Website Review and Suggestions

Hey,

I was hoping to get some feedback on one of my latest sites, Online Tourneys

The site is allows site owners to list their own private tournaments to gain
more visitors, members, signups and players.

The site is free to list tournaments and free registration for user
accounts to search for tournaments as well as notifications if any
tournaments meeting their criteria are listed.

You can have a look around and let me know what you think, I will post a full feature list tonight.

From a designer's point of view: Very clean and professional with a few nit-picks: the "forgot password" function text is not visible enough and the entire box looks cluttered because of it. I would suggest making it better visibly against the blue background and adding some padding in the box.

I like the placements of your ads across the site. It does not look like crap and the ads still stand out. Very nice. My only problem is the giant white box at the bottom of the page, which seems unnecessary. I don't know if you are just planning for more sponsors, but right now it is too much white space and that was my first though when I scrolled down the page.

I'm not sure if the forum is actually "yours" but I will still comment. The forum is very clean and nice, I like the "web 2.0" look the entire site. There are a few problems with backgrounds and images, but it may be due to my browser... Even so, it may be of use to you to know that my browser is Safari 3.0 and there are a few glitches.

Hopefully we'll be able to see some more content and pages soon, because this site looks promising.

I think your right about the padding and text, maybe even removing that and adding it to the page that show if the username / password is wrong would work better.

Yeah the forum (DeuceAce) is also mine.

Which background and image problems do you have? I just removed a background image from the design without removing it from the CSS yet if that is what you mean?

The background I'm having problems with is the on the forums... The green "A" trailing off to the other side of the page. It breaks in half right before "Welcome to..." and then again at the footer of the page. I also checked the same page on firefox and have the same problem. Its not a huge deal, just making you aware of it.

And yes, I think having the password function on the username page might be effective.

I also think your site would benefit from emphasizing more on the "free registration." I think if you put more emphasis on that web 2.0 style button, you might have much better results.
