Website Review and Suggestions

So I set up my web forum a few days ago, the intention is a budget travel community geared towards younger travelers aka backpackers. So far I have submitted to google, yahoo, submitted articles to digg, 43 things, stumble upon... Emailed various web masters for budget travel sites requesting link exchanges, posted on quite a few message board related to travel with quality posts and links in my sig... Tried a small pay-per-click with facebook...

So far almost no posts in my community. I think it's been about 5 days or so and I have only nine members to show for it.

Anybody have any idea how I can drive more people to my site, or simply get the visitors who do come to sign up? What am I doing wrong?

Articles are a good idea. I may submit some of mine but I want to modify them a bit so they do not look like duplicate content. ( orienteering articles ). I will probably sign up and put one of my related sites in the sig. I would say target keywords like budget travel.

your default_logo4.gif picture got a different background than the rest of the site and the green buttons looks a little bad. I cant exactly see what it is
