I've noticed there are quite a few young web designers on the forum including myself. (18) Started when I has 15
You can view my portfolio here!
So anyways, I thought having a showcase site for young web designers could be an inspirational tool for other young people interested in the field. It could also inspire confidence in those who have some qualms about hiring young designers, given that the site is impressive and showcases some of the best talent around.
Anyway if you are interested that concept.
Leave your name/company/age and post a link to your site(s)

I think this is a great idea! Well done!
It's great to see youngsters wanting to learn and hoping to be successful.
I am 16 and will leave the link here (of my site) when I have finished it.
But once again, great idea.

Thanks for the posts!
If we can get maybe a good 20 stellar sites to begin with , I think it would be worth the time needed to create a showcase.
Also the site could feature tutorials, screencasts, blogs of featured peoples etc. Note necessarily right away but s if expands.
Please feel free to share any ideas you might have

I like it overall. You can consider making the font a bit stronger to make it easier to read.

The site I provided is my personal portfolio site, What I'm talking about will be a separate project altogether.

So we'll include our sites (mine's still under construction, by the way, haha. It's not just gonna stay a white page!) and we can contribute to the blog and screencasts? Or someone else will do that?

Of course, also it will have the most common social networking features as to foster community. we can try to also have notable designers share their tips and advice etc. If we get them interested.....we will need to have some kind of quality control for what goes on the site etc.
Maybe a featured section for the BEST we can find. And another section for people who are just beginning.
The people who join can have a profile/portfolio nothing extensive..and there can be wall post with suggestions etc. But this would be separate from the featured sites. So its a place you can go to be inspired as well as learn.

Foundation Flash (Two 15 year-olds) at www.foundation-flash.com. (For interest, we get 15,000 pageviews a month.)
Great idea! You'd need to be careful though, because a lot of young people make freewebs sites using what they've learnt at school, which look really horrible.
I really like the proposal though.

EXACTLY, that's why I want to stress quality. I want it to be inclusive for all interested young designers, but only have the EXCLUSIVE featured on the site. Others who might not be quite there yet, can work on improving their skills and eventually be featured.

Hey your site looks great, any way you could let me know where I can find that flash image loader thing to add to my site?
It's great to see a lot of new young designers keeping the industry fresh.

I totally agree. My sites aren't quite at top-notch yet (I'm working on it) , but I know what to look for when people are doing things wrong. We should encourage people to master their tools. Such as HTML and CSS (these should be MASTERED at least with syntax) and knowledgeable about PHP and Java. As well, they should have access to validity and licensing information. Not everything on the web is free, haha.

mine is completely designed and coded by yours truly , no extra scripts .
I would rate it as a "quality" website, in the least. But then again, that information MAY be biased. I posted my website earlier, however it's also in my sig.
Looking forward to seeing how this'll turn out.

^^ I like your website, it looks pretty pro.
Haha, it looks to me like the Customer testimonials are fake though and in "live support" ...
'Unfortunately, our Live Help staff are currently unavailable. If you would like to contact us, please fill in your details below: '
Is written into the Html of the page. Do you actually have a staff? That would be pretty impressive.
I guess even 15 year olds can own hosting companies as resellers. You did a good job with the flash.

^^ Actually I have a team of staff members, ranging in fields. Also, the testimonials, and the actual live help software are not fake. The message displays every time someone is NOT in the live help software.
Also, we are not resellers. BLD Hosting owns a few servers actually. I really don't want to get into details ... as this IS public.
It is understandable however. After all, what could one expect from a 16 year old .
Thank you for your compliments.
