I'm assuming you'd use that for a portfolio site? My only qualm with that is if there's one thing that people do wrong on portfolio's so often, its not leaving enough room to really show the work. Tiny thumbnails are really annoying for people to look through. SmashingMagazine has an excellent article with do's and don'ts, as well as some helpful links.
And since it's just an image, and watermarked, it's not as clear if it'll be a layout that stretches? Also, I'm not sure that it will look as good without the watermark xD It adds a nice texture to the background that probably would look nicer than a solid color. Also think of using larger text with a larger line-spacing. You want the (little) text on your page to be easy to read =)
