I am working on a page where you can upload homework, notes, and also blog their school activities. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Cool is spelled wrong at top (extra "o"). The one thing that stands out is does the site look "cool". It just looks like a standard ho-hum website. Might want to ask your target audience, the kids, about suggestions on how to make the site look "cool".

it looks very much as if it was made in the early 90s, your target market will want more than this in terms of design, gfx and flow.
Also, why would anyone want to upload their homework to this???

the color scheme is not ok. the logo is not ok. the navigation has a very dull contrast ... black and white. and yes it does look like something made in the '90. personally i do not like the design.
I recommend you to read some articles about design trends and color theory. I also recommend to explore a design gallery website like cssremix.

Hey, don't let these guys get to you, I think the idea is very "coool"! I expect within a couple of months, with some user input, you will have a really cool site!

Basically you need more modern graphics. Needs some graphics of some student aged teens and because of your name, don't have girls with braces carying books, you're going to need a variety of bots and girls of different races wearing modern clothing etc. Along with that, a new design for the navigation and to get rid of those gradients.

Points taken. The design has been changed completely, but some stuff still doesn't work, and I am far from finished.

This is my webpage, not someone else's, so it is sort of an experiment. Unfortunately it is taking me way too long to finish, and the only fruits I am getting come from everything I am learning by designing this.

As I write this, I wonder if I should just cancel the whole thing.

Thanks for your help!

honestly the design is not ok same as the header image and the template itself....it is better to focus more on the design of your site and add some content!

As has been mentioned a few times already, the design definitely needs some work on capturing its audience's attention (schoolkids).

The other thing I thought should be mentioned is the functionality - I imagine this is something you're also working on, but what is the security like? When it comes to uploading sensitive information like homework, particularly with minors, you have to be extremely secure. i.e. registrations, logins, uploads behind an SSL certificate.

You'll need to make your privacy policy and Ts+Cs watertight.

I'm not sure how much good presentation can make up for bad content, but what's for sure is that bad presentation can negate good content, because potential readers will be put off right away .

Hopefully your next version will address that issue . All the best .

The site looks cool. There is one small problem thought. The navigation, content and the titlebanner does not seem to fit in each other. Perhaps you should try to make it look like 1 thing. Just a suggestion. Good luck!
