Website Review and Suggestions

In the past week or so I have been starting up my new fansite http://jackfan.com/. It has been going well but I'm feeling like the layout isn't to hot..

could some people please review and tell me whats good and what would make it look better?

It is good, I like the color very masculine and pleasant to the eyes and also the logo. and if ever this website resume avoid putting some flashing light it will look cheap.

The layout is simple and a little bit plain. Color scheme is good. I would suggest adding on more 'images' to the side (right). Overall, I think it could be better. Good luck mate!

Even though I'm at the point that I would rather stab my ears out rather than hear "If I had eyes" one more time (but that is beside the point)

Your site is very good, I like the colors, the header is great. The home page is kinda bland though, you need more content there. The site loads very fast, the content is laid out good. Nice job.

hey thanks a lot guys.. i undersand it is a very simple design..kind of too plain, i just dont now what to do for it.

Oh and the homepage i just needed something to stick on there so it was less plain that a blank page

.. but thanks a lot guys and if you can think of anything else i'd be glad to hear it.

yeah i should have mentioned that i'm sorry.. i'm not totally done with my website quite yet.. i just wanted to know if theres anything i could do to the layout before i finish every page

The layout for me is fine, the only suggestion I could make is to make the "Affiliates" text have the same effects as the "JackFan Navigation".

Over all, like I said in the post about your header, the simpleness you have going is working. However, as mentioned, I would try to add some more content to the home page... perhaps you could eliminate some of the links in the navigation and use the pages content on the home page?

Also, the background color doesnt seem to blend well..maybe try a medium dark grey (like #666666)?

Another thing is the navigation.. the links dont really stand out enough.. maybe try a bullet list and a dark font color... they dont seem to have enough contrast.

Other than that, I think it could be a real nice layout with a few little tweeks

alright man, thanks a lot.. that was some really good advice. I was thinking of making the home page the news page just because there isnt really anything i can put on the home page.

Colours are great, you need more pictures to fill the void, it looks pretty empty. As others have mentioned, It is very simple.

I suggest maybe down the bottom add a album scroller, have scrolling pictures, spice up your homepage abit.

yeah thanks a lot i was working on that pretty hard last night (i'm still kinda new to css). So now i'm working on finishing up all the pages and finalizing them then i just need to advertise. Any suggestions on how to get traffic to a site like this?

I think the layout is clean and crisp. I like it.

If you're wanting to get search engine traffic however, this site won't do it for you.
Try adding a description tag in the head and add title="..." tags to your links, describing your links. That will at least be a good start in pulling search engine traffic.

Make sure all images have descriptive ALT="..." tags (even the "site related" and "JackFan Navigation" images should have ALT tags.

Remove all non-working links, or at least put a page there that says "coming soon" or something... letting search engines find black holes on your site is never good for ranking well in search engines.

Go sign up for Google Webmaster tools and submit an actual sitemap to them.

DOn't know what program you're using to build the site, but if it's in a blog program live Movable Type or WordPress, you should be able to download a plugin to automatically rebuild a Google site map every time you make an update to the site.

That's a good place for starters on traffic. I have about 1,000 more ideas for you for traffic, but that's a good place to start.

The website looks really good. I like the navigation. There is nothing more I have to comment.
