Please Review http://www.pgtutor.com.

It mostly focuses on web design but I decided to add a SEO tool later on. What do you think?

Thanks in advance.

It's not bad. The design seems a little dated to me. I think a more modern look would be better. Some padding around the text in the main content area would be good.

The colors wouldn't be my first choice. but the colors work well in the scheme.

The content seems good. I didn't read through the entire tutorials, but what I did look at reads well. Nice conversational tone. Check your spelling though. On the Home page you have "HTML tuor" in the menu.

You get bonus points for quoting Jim Abbot.

The site looks okay for the most part. There was one part of the website that really bothered me and that was the header / logo ( http://www.pgtutor.com/images/pgtutor_logo.jpg ). Honestly what the heck! I can't even tell what its trying to say nor do I care at this moment. It's horrible I'm just WoWed. I dont mean to be rude but seriously thats just garbage.

- why is your "become a member" page different from the style of the site?
- you may want to reconsider positioning your search text box.
- not sure about the colors.
- to keep google happy add a privacy statment (see google TOS)

I like the navigation actually, old style but good for the users..

over all very good, good luck.

Your site looks good. But for better readability change the current font of right side bar,say Arial, which is more clear and readable

i think that you need to change the color...and the format of the page it seems so plain..you need something that could attract attention.

Thank you all.

However the only part of my website that really bothers me is the "Review my website" tool.

I want more and more people to sign up for that. I want that to be the most noticeable part of my website. I want to build my website around that.

Please tell me was that the first thing you noticed on my website. What stopped you from suibmitting your website? Was it when you saw that you had to pay for the full report? Was it when you saw you had to enter your e-mail? You get the point.

It's noticeable, but why would we ask you to review our sites? That's not meant as an insult, but what would compel us to ask for a review. Unless someone is landing on your site specifically looking for a review or you can offer them a good reason why they should they probably aren't going to ask.

No offense meant, but you're offering a search engine optimization site review. Looking at your site I can tell you're not exactly an expert where SEO is concerned. So why should I pay you to review my site. You have to give people a reason to trust you and think what you're offering is worth paying for. You're not doing that right now. People won't just sign up because they land on your site.

Graphics and colours: gaudy, images are low-grade clipart even though high-grade clipart is free if you use MS office or Appleworks and often people have them free (do you? if so, change the images, man!)

Membership requirement: faulty logic - traffic builds from knowing you have good content. I read some stuff on html I know well but once I wanted to see how well you teach difficult stuff, I was told to become a member. Make the money off ad revenue, don't require membership. What websites do you use which you have paid to join? Any?***

Navigation: no flaws.

Fonts and language: tutorials show easy simple examples, but seem to be wordy (wait a minute, he says, is that pot calling that kettle black? my god).

Branding/marketing: there is a slogan at the bottom which is something my aunt could easily email me in order to try and improve my life and wisdom - my reaction would be to delete it and add a notch to my "i-regret-giving-her-that-email-address" column. If you put a slogan on your site, put something cool, devilish, wild. When i was younger i almost created a marketing company/site called Cow Marketing, whose slogan was "baaa means nothing to a cow" - saying, in subtle and devilish terms, that my company was not in the business of sheeplike behaviour.

[[Maybe i went too far by making it clear that COW stood for "crisps? onion? wizard!" (in the UK crisps are what you call potato chips)]]

Speed of loading: excellent.

in short - just look at this: http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp
it's free, and the more competent a developer gets, the more they are likely to be aware of w3.org, w3schools.com, etc, and to generally need completely professional content.

***[[[CORE ADVICE: put google adsense on your site immediately and get instant money, from your traffic - and when you have learned a lot more, graduate to the affiliate networks who pay you much more for the same space - your site may be pretty poor, but if you get some money coming in from it, you will naturally learn how to improve it - in 3 hours from now you can have google adsense running successfully on your site and have even seen a few cents come in, if you have any traffic, but maybe you don't - however, even if you don't, it means that the moment you have had your first 1000 unique users, you WILL have earned at least a dollar, maybe more, which will be highly encouraging, it always is]]]
