I am in the midst of building up a portfolio of website's and was offered to design a website for a childrens party planning business (pro-bono). At this point the site is up on the web and I'm tweaking things here and there still but was just curious as to what other web designers/developers had to say about it. Any feedback/criticisms are greatly appreciated. I'll admit that I'm not sure how great the SEO is yet but any suggestions would help. Thanks!

Yeah, I was talking to my g/f about it and she said the same thing, which I agree with. I think I will definitely make it a little faster.

Great theme, captures the party spirit really well.

Have to agree with the loading of the home page, but see you are aware of the problem.

If you are serious about making a business from this you need to ensure that your HTML validates, currently there are 14 errors showing, all of which could be easily fixed.

Good luck, great start.

in addition to the above with the text on the homepage appearing too slow, the header slogan - "customized parties for your little rock star," the words "your little" is sized differently than the rest of the text in the same line. not sure if this was intentional. also, i would get rid of the yahoo email and use the email from your domain/host for added professionalism. maybe you could also change your background to something else besides plain black.

Some text of your website need time to download so those area where internet is slow wont get the benefit. But look is really superb and perfect match which you want to show.

I must say this one is really good ... best of luck

Hi Mrflume. I like the layout of your site it's really cute and perfect for the target. Some suggestions:

1. You should probably have the front page's story text appear automatically rather than being written out as it might be a bit slow causing a viewer to just skip it and click on a different page.

2. I like all the different party ideas, just from a marketing standpoint you'll want to include a "call to action" at the bottom of the pages listing the different "cake" and "cupcake" parties available. You can say something like:
"Call us today at ###### to setup your party!"

3. You'll want to put meta tags in the <head> section of each page so that search engines can find you based on the relevant keywords you place in there.

Otherwise everything else looks great! Hope this helps.

I like the site but that text needs to go at least 3x faster or else people will simply get agitated, text should always appear faster than the average reader can read.

I'll avoid commenting on the slow-loading text for the fourteenth time!

The site is too graphic-intensive, placing too much emphasis on bandwith, and the colour scheme is fairly drab for a site advertising party planning for children. As has been mentioned you need to include some sort of meta data to give the search engines a chance of indexing the site properly, and there should be some readable text (if you can't highlight it, Google can't read it) on the index page.

I added in meta data on each page, the only thing I'm not sure about is if I should have different meta data for them (I put in the same for each page). LGR do you have any suggestions that I could put into action that you feel would make the site less drab? I understand that it may be too graphic intensive is their anything you think I should do that will help bandwith wise, without really taking away too much from the sites overall appearance

Hey again. It would be best to make sure the meta tag content is specific to the page it will be on. For the main page you'll want to say something like, "children's parties, birthdays, fun birthday planning" or something to that effect. Then on other pages like the one where you list the different parties you could include, "types of birthday parties, etc" Hope this helps!
