Just a joke site, a diversion, but still I'd really appreciate any comments, and any ways in which you think the site can be improved.

Very cool actually. Its definitely something different. Even though you say it is just a joke site I think it could work quite well if you promote it well - and of course continue to add new content.

So the concept I think is a good one, but the design could be improved. Perhaps make the header image more narrow so more of the content is visible at first glance.

Also, there seems to be a problem with the code at the moment as I am seeing the code where your ads are supposed to appear

I did not get your comment this site as joke site. Anyway its a different concept. When it comes to design you can do lot to improve the site. Site loading is slow.

Your site changes nicely with decreased resolution. I agree with the previous posts. In addition a favicon would be nice.

Wow, thanks so much for the substantive replies. I had checked the thread a few times in the couple days following my original post and there were no responses, so I assumed nobody was interested and stopped checking up on it further. Anyway, that would explain my delay in getting back to this thread.

I should clarify two things: First, I'm a total newbie when it comes to web design (if you hadn't already guessed). A lot of the technical terms that you used (pinkerton primarily) were unfamiliar to me, though I'm sure they were extremely basic to anyone who's a bit more tech savvy. Second, I should mention that I created this site using iWeb. This poses problems for me because, as I'm sure you are aware, iWeb makes it very difficult to edit the actual html on my pages. I have purchased iWeb enhancer, and this is the only means by which I am able to modify/add html code.

Since I don't want to bog down this thread with a bunch of newbie questions, I will do some research on my own and see if I can implement the many suggestions that were offered on future updates for my site.

I will ask this here: How do I edit/create ALT tags for my images? Is the process at all different if I'm using iWeb?

Finally, to Masteryooshi, my motives for creating the site were (1) seeing lots of crazy suspicious vans around and thinking a site dedicated to cataloging them would be funny, and (2) hoping that I could learn a thing or two about web design in the process.

Anyway, thanks to all who have replied.

Pardon me for asking a question like this one, but that is a FQDN ( fully qualified domain name) -- suspiciousvan.com ( at least I would gather, another words that's not hosted freely, correct ) ?

Why don't you try to make something out of it...It's pretty much a mess if you ask me...Like I say, pardon the dis-respect, but a criticism is always a notice.

Good Luck

hangs out at the community park and you NEVER see kids buying ice cream

Make something out of it meaning try to make the site nicer? Yes, I did pay for the domain name, but it was only 10 bucks for a year so that was no big deal.

Anyway, no disrespect taken, this is my first attempt at web design and I have a LOT to learn.

please do send me that pic. I've concluded that ice cream trucks are by their very nature shady. Who else but a shady individual cruises around in a truck giving candy to children?
