Hey guys, i took a break from the Ionisis.com layout for a while, because i was beating my brains into a wall with it, and figure i'd try out one of my other sites for a while.

This site is MyRoladex.com and it is a member driven site where people can store information that is important to them. It's kinda like an address book, scheduler, note taker, prioritizer, bookmarker, etc, all in one. The user base is just average people like you and me, so it doesn't need to be as professional as my Ionisis project, and i feel that i can be a bit more lax with this one.

Here are about 17 different layout ideas i've come up with so far, and i'd like to know what you guys think, thanx.

they're all the same layout, just in different color schemes or background. as a designer, you must have some preference as to which ones you like and be able to narrow it down to 2 or 3 different comps. while i understand it is important to come up with many comps to draw ideas, you should be able to scratch out ones you dislike.

you have a very distinct style, however, all these comps share a similar theme to the ionisis website you posted before.

one point about these comps - the photo of the roladex on the upper right looks poorly cropped out with some white edges showing.

good but however, i dont think people really fancy looking at teh same thing in differnet colours, maybe if we wanted to have an eye test but thats not what we are here for, maybe narrow it down to like 5.

Yeah, i just kinda threw that in there for now, but i will be using a solid black and white (or other solid colors) logo like that, once i think of the best way to do it; probably something like the attached images.

I thought about a menu down the side also; but quickly dismissed it because they're aren't enough options to warrant a vertical menu. This layout is pretty much what i sketched out on paper in black and white. Then i just tried different color combinations.

Thanx all.

http://MyRoladex.com is now live. I gave up on the whole Photoshop process, and just went back to coding it out until i like it. You have a choice between a dark theme, and a darker theme (under the settings menu). This is not finished yet (still have to test in different browsers, and on a windows machine, and finish the backend), but it's there for critique.

Thanx

i noticed that you put a message at the top when your page is viewed with internet explorer. why? the reality is that a lot of users out there still use ie and putting a message trying to get them to convert to ff, instead of fixing your site so it'll work on ie, is not the solution.

I never said that i would not fix it to work with it. As a matter of fact, i DID say that i have not gotten a chance to test with IE/Win yet. Now that i have, it does work with IE, other than one small layout bug that i will fix later, after i get more work done with the backend.

Done.

Also, i have built a mobile version to it . If you go to MyRoladex.com with your mobile phone, it will be detected and redirected to Mobile.MyRoladex.com

It looks much better now.

Thanx all.
