Hi,

I am a first time web designer, and I must apologize about my code (if you look at it) because I'm sure it's completely wrong (at least from the perspective of someone that is good at this sort of thing). I suppose that I took a dumb approach to web design, writing the code line by line (using google to teach myself how to program, and poorly) instead of using a program like frontpage, but I'm poor and it was the cheapest way to go.

So my question is what do you think of the site? Is it easy to navigate or even useful? I have a lot more content I want to add, it's just taking time between work and school to finish things, but at the moment I think that it is pretty functional. (**WARNING!** if you don't like links to open in new windows or tabs, DO NOT click on the "search MLS homes" link in the main navbar, it opens a framed page and I haven't quite figured out .asp pages yet, so i have it set to open in a new window until i can get the back button function to work without keeping the extra frame. Sorry about that, i'll hopefully fix it soon. **Warning!**)

The website is http://www.wmanderson.com

The site is for my real esate business and I'm also trying to get it up there in google, so any advice for a first time web designer would be awesome.

Any help that you could provide me would be wonderful!

Thank you!

i think it's great that you're learning how to code yourself instead of relying on frontpage/dreamweaver. this is how i learned how to build websites and have been hand-coding ever since.

now about your site.

i'm not sure if the two-line navigation works, at least for me. i would rather see everything in one line, or one column stacked.

i personally don't believe advertisements belong anywhere near the body/center of a webpage. they should be either at the very top, bottom, or sides. you have it smack center snugged between your content.

i think the community pages and helpful information can be tweaked a bit. right now it's just a bunch of tiny links and i couldn't tell at first if they were advertisement or more of your site. i would create some sort of structure for the links and not just have link after link after link. maybe put them in columns or group them by topic.

i'm not sure if this was intentional, however, you put a meta tag to not allow search engines to index and crawl your site.

for SEO, i would read up on some articles about it. a lot of great information out there about this.

i would also put all your css in a separate file instead of having all your styles in the html.

the rest of your site is fine and is informative. good job on your first website.
