I think you should do something with the bright blue too, you have to tone it down a bit. I also get some alighnment issues.
I think the first one is perhaps a better example of a working webpage, your template has no logo or sidebar content so looks very bland. I think the blue colour would work better with black text on light background ( I'm really don't like white text dark background sites, real hard on the eyes)
