I am a photographer not a web designer and this is my first attempt at a site like this so I am extremely interested in honest feedback. I have been working on submitting links to directories that are photography related and posting comments on related blogs with my sig. Traffic has increased some August was 50 unique visitors and this month should hit 1000 visitors. I have it setup to use Digg and Yahoo Buzz. I recently got $25 free credit with Adwords when I ordered some business cards for my photography studio. I was thinking about using them for this site to help increase traffic .. good idea or should I hold onto it until I have more content online?
Any site suggestions or tips on what could be improved on would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone
Randy

Hello Randy!

I think your site is definitely ready to receive the extra users from your Adwords credits.

One of the basics of Web Usability is to make sure the user who gets on your site for the first time knows instantly what the goal of your website is. I have to admit that I wasn't sure (other than the fact that you had mentioned it in your original post on webmaster-talk). You might want to consider putting the "objective/goal" of your website right in the middle where the user can see it easily.

Hope this helps!

1. What's up with the huge gatekeeper ad?? Just take me to your site. Felt like I was setup.
2. Something on your site (probably an ad) dings repeatedly. That's super annoying.
3. I don't remember clicking on anything and I was sent to a jobs website.
4. Honestly, I got the impression your more about generating ad revenue then providing a site that's committed to Photography.
5. You need a Gallery.
6. You site visually looks great.
7. Tone down the in-your-face ads, people will click on ads when they don't feel like your trying to force them too.

Your transition ads really are annoying. Overall great looking site. You have placed your ads i.e. adsense in page breaks which seperates it from the sites content, try blending the ads with the content. Floyd@myspacejuju.com

Didnt mean to make you feel setup. I use AdBrite banners on the site and I was doing an experiment with the full page ads they have .. I don't think they are accurate. Plus it's not suppose to display more than once a day for a visitor. I'm going to end up dropping the AdBrite and just stick with Google and CJ.

I do want a Gallery. But I don't want just a simple gallery of my work on it. I'd like to have it where visitors could create albums or vote on each others images or something along those lines. I just havent found a script that works the way I want yet.
