Re:I'm working on a site, theinternet .co .uk and we're looking for feedback regarding the design of the Homepage.

If it helps, here's what we do:

Shops section:
Shop owners can list their UK based online shop FREE with the option to upgrade, giving 6 featured products, each with VIDEO functionality. There are other benefits to upgrading such as full product database upload, searchable much like Googlebase and being listed in more than one category.

Classified section:
Put simply, anyone can advertise any number of classified ads with VIDEO and up to 4 pictures, FREE.

Property section:
For a one off fee (FREE to begin with), anyone can advertise their property with VIDEO and up to 8 pictures.

Have a look at the home page if you have a minute (www .theinternet .co .uk) as we'd love to have some fresh eyes on it, we're so far from impartial now! Let us know what you think, good or bad.

Cheers,

Not bad at all. For your Property section, may I suggest that you consult http://www.realtor.ca/index.aspx?cul=1 It's the most popular Property Website in Canada so that might give you some ideas in General.

I like the colors of your website. in the title field of your website, I would change it from Theinternet.co.uk to TheInternet.co.uk Your Greatest Source of Information and entertainement.

Finally, I would probably add the same quote between the explore menu and the shop menu.

Good luck with your website. Feel free to comment again if you want more explanation or a deeper review :-)

Agreed. It's not bad. A little too busy for my taste. But I've seen sites like this do far worse.

I'm not really sure how to tell you to fix this but when I arrived at the site my eyes scanned AROUND the page, as if unable to hone in on the point of the site. I guess I could suggest that you create a content block at the top of the site, just above the three "shop", "classified", and "realistate" boxes that greets your visitors, tells them what your site offers them, and possible include text links to your main areas. Visuals are great, but it can get confusing.

May I suggest the addition of a sitemap? You can then add it to your free Google Webmaster tools account and it will help Google crawl your whole site without missing any sections.

The Meta Description of your site is "Welcome to our directory of uk online retailers. We have details for over 2500 online shops. You can also classified adverts absolutely free of charge. Even sell your property on line saving you thousands." I think this needs to be adjusted as I didn't see any directory on your website so it might confuse the users and also confuse Google as these keywords are not repeated on your webpage (therefore a lower ranking).
