Hi,

Personally, I like the mask, but not the colouring, which makes me think of blood. What do you think of a black and white theme, similar to classic tatoos?

If you needed some sample text for your website to see how it looks you could have gone here. It's that lorum ipsum thing which web designers use.

I like the final idea with exception to the text being over the image. That image rocks and it’s a shame to cover it up.

Appreciable effort, I like it and want to give a suggestion to you for this one ,You need some text being over the image and nothing to do much for it.

Ah... Thanks for all the replies... I still got loads to do, and plan...

im still not sure whether to:
get rid of the transparent boxes behind the text and have the text directly on top of the image

or get rid of the boxes and the text?

do you guys think its easy to read or too distracting by the mask?

I had no problem reading it. I think if you got rid of the boxes behind the text it WOULD be hard to read. I think it's busy and bright but I also think that kinda what you are going for with a tattoo palce. I really like it. I like the mask too. I think it's done really well. Bump it back to the top when you get the gallery set up b/c that to me is what would really sell a tatoo parlor (and hygene of course.) I want to see their work.

I know you have no control what so ever in this next part but I hate the name of the parlor b/c too me that name says...hey come here cuz we are going to poke the living crap out of you and make this hurt real bad with our oversized EXTREME NEEDLES!! (Sry I know that off topic since you only came here for design advice.)

Good luck!

Mark

Hello there!
I really like the concept and I like that you've used clean code.

How & ever.. here goes...

The blood coming out of the needle is immediately offputting, noone wants to think about blood when they think of getting a tattoo..

Also, the font that you've used at the top 'welcome to extreme needing' etc is a little plain looking.

The bottom looks a little plain and could do with a footer perhaps.

That background is actually quite a nice image if used right, think about perhaps moving it into the top right fading into the black background.

Thanks,
Andy

Hey guys

Thanks a lot for the replies.
Really really helped.

The image as a background is a must. but its pretty hard to use it in a way
that dont take the readers attention and dont make it hard for them to read...

perhaps i will try and fade the image? or, get rid of the text in front of it?

what do you think?

Hi:
I like the last idea with the exception to the background RED color: It sounds like you're going to "bleed" after some kind of extreme needle.

A friend from Colombia,

The text in front of that background is hard on my eyes.

If that's essential information -- and by its placement, I'm guessing so -- then you want it to be easily viewed.

Personally... not a big fan of design behind text. Perhaps if you dimmed the design quite a bit more.

Just my honest opinion.

Other than that... good enough it seems. Seems like perhaps you've captured the spirit of the design needed/wanted by the business owner... which is always really important.

Hey guys thanks a lot

I was thinkin of making it left aligned.
with the mask on the top left.
fading to the black background.

And make the tittle gold!

Hiya Pedledge,

You didn't vary too much in your site design ideas. but that's ok. At least you're brainstorming. Black red, white gray is an ok choice, just make sure you keep your contrasts of a dark bg and light text or light background with dark text. You want to make text easily readible without causing a migraine.

My suggestion for the final design, the logo doesn't seem to really match the rest of the site. I do like what you did in idea #1 - The font choice immediately made me think of Miami ink for some reason. I think a lot of tattooists use very script like fonts in their work. Or so I've seen. It would have been cool to have seen it more in the final. Perhaps use it as the title of the page. Why the block /serif like font at the top? You may want to put that welcome one-liner in the text content of the main page when you arrive. Also, I prefer a site to have the logo at the very top or top left of the site where you have it- so that big Welcome seems mildly out of place. As a tattoo shop is a artistic place, perhaps you could edit the logo a bit and mesh it with that mask graphic- that could be neat.

Please post when you have finished this site. I would like to see how it turns out.

You can make the font size of the navigation bar smaller because it almost of the same size as the header. Speaking of header, I think it's better to use a different font style.

Just a question though, what does the two images on the left symbolizes? (fan and staircase)

Looks good. The layout and the images are seem to convey what the site is all about.

Just don't like the scary background image! lol *not a fan of tattoos here*

I think most people know that tattoo=a lot of pain. So maybe you could tone down the red color and the blood a little bit. And i quite like the mask
