Hi all,

I have made a second attempt at this website. It's got a new design and technical back end.

What do you think ?

www.tcfadvice.com

There are a few things still in progress but the site is live now.

TCF is a thoroughly oring subject - I know as I had to implement it into a company strategy and talk to the FSA a lot - very dull.

So you need to make the site visuall interesting...and it fails. The grey is grey and the green is horrible. I would suggest grey borders of #dedede and background of #f9f9f9 or lighter. Get rid of the green and consider either a corporate blue look or go for something warm like hot orange/red/black etc.

Also the logo - pic is great and could be used elsewhere, ut as a main logo it is to broken up and has no impact - simple text logo in photoshop with a bit of gloss effect etc will work better.

Also the buttons/section links - give them some depth with a subtle gradient.

Sorry to sound criticl, but you asked for ideas.

The concept sounds like an interesting idea, but I'm not sure how well something like Treating Customers Fairly would do.

The logo is creative, but I think it's rather large. Personally I don't like having logos taller than about 120 pixels, because then you're just pushing the content further down the page. Like thefandango said, it's nice to have a logo that is fairly simple.

Is there anyway to discuss your subject? Like, blog comments, forum, etc? I'm looking around and don't see anything. Maybe that's not the primary purpose of the site, but it's still nice to be able to allow for discussion on the site.

I think the design is decent. It might be nice to add a touch of color to that white background, because as it is, the color scheme on plain white seems to wash out the rest of the text and design. Then again, I'm not a huge fan of white. :P

I would have to agree with most of the other comments... the content presentation is blah...

Try to make this visually appealing, and try to impress upon the user that you are adding value to their experience. Your site looks like it is just regurgitating news feed, which is exactly what it is doing.

Also, I know about the credit crunch and everything, but I took me a few seconds to determine what your site is all about because you never really come out and say it in big, BOLD terms. Actually, you do but not until almost at the fold.... If you make a user think to much, he or she will surely leave almost immediately.

I also have some questions about your domain, TCF*Advice*.... what advice are you giving? It really is not clear.

The business directory is also making scratch my head... why?

If you are trying to monetize your site with Adsense your entire thinking should be "How do I maximize my page views for each user"? (as well as the CTR question) Do you really think you are accomplishing this?

I like what you did with the directory.. Putting the link together with the logo/banner is just good.. Try to put more content on your site.. They always say that content is king and I absolutely agree to that.
