Way too many ads after clicking a story, i had had to scroll the full length of the page just to see the story.

I agree with randon that once you click a story, you shouldn't be stuck with a full page of ads before the story. Other than that, great design and good info. Also check your images, they look like they've been resized in the html and distorted.

Hiya,

A very good site. I've read loads of technology blogs and I must say this is one of the better ones. I think the combination of cars, games, laptops etc will hit a huge range of people.

Some blogs take a marketing approach; targeting topics that get them more hits. This appears to be a more casual approach where you blog what interests you, which I prefer.

Here's what I'd do if it were my site. The site's design is very good, and these are not criticisms... just what I'd change if it were mine:
  1. I have to agree with the other two: those ads on the story pages kinda get in the way. If you're going to put ads in the main content, I think they might flow better if they were wide and short. For example, if you had an ad after the story but before the comments, it could be 150px wide, but stretch across the whole width available.

  2. Another ad that I might move is the one in the right-hand sidebar. The ad itself is fine, I just think it would be better further down. Your content should be the main focus, not the ad. Personally I'd move it right down so it's underneath the subscription bits.

  3. It might just be me being stupid, but I can't figure out what the media browser bit is for. When I click 'More' I just get a search error.

  4. I'd consider cutting down on the homepage a tad. I when I was browsing I felt there was so much it was hard to find anything. If it were me I'd not bother with anything below the car gallery.

  5. When viewing a story, you can see two lots of 'Tags' in the sidebar which are almost identical. One is revealed by clicking a tab, and the other is already showing. I'd remove one or the other personally, as it seems to just add unnecessary clutter to the page.

  6. Finally, I think the search box could be more obvious. Would it be possible to move it to some of the unused space in the header?
But nevertheless, it's got everything going for it so I'm sure it'll be incredibly popular in no time.

An excellent blog... good luck with it.
Cheers

I’m not really sure of I really have to say this but you are counting he review that say you have too many ads on your pages, then count put this one in the "too many ads" column.

Other than that I think it is a pretty nice looking site.

Cheers,

I'm not sure how much of the design is yours (except the header site name) and how much is a default template.
Also I think there is too much information on the first page. I'm not a big fan of seeing tones of articles + ads+ galleries in one page. It makes me look all around the site and not see almost anything. I see some things are shown at least twice on one page (RSS feed at the top and also under the Subscribe panel, Categories also). The secondary pages look better.

So my suggestions are:
1. Take out some of the adds
2. Change the header (make it part of the website)
3. Take out some of the stuff in the front page
