Website Review and Suggestions

Hi,

I just created this blog on how to make a will recently and would like to get some feeback. I am going to add more content, but want to make sure the format is okay. http://www.howtowill.com

the site looks pretty good.

I would change the logo, it doesn't make me think of a "will", It makes me think of a mechanic shop.

You could also greatly benefit from some images in your content!

Put a picture of a will or a scripture on the home page, or else your users will be very confused. They will have to read to know what your site is. and you don't want that.

Very nice site. A good idea that I haven't seen in this kind of format before. The template and general design seems very good quality. I read some of the content and I think you give some excellent advice.

The site is perfectly good as it is, but here's some things I'd change if it were mine:

I think the name howtowill is an excellent find and really catchy somehow. However, for some reason I don't think the title image quite does it justice. I personally don't feel the red/yellow effect works that well given the site's name and purpose. I can't really explain my feeling behind this, I just know I'd change it myself. Anywho... I'd consider going for a cleaner, perhaps less fancy look. Keep the shine/3d effect but maybe use a simpler font and a brighter colour (which goes well with the green).
Also, you have another title which is just text. I think you could probably scrap that... although, that said, you would certainly need to update the alt tag for the title image to make it accessible.
Lastly, the ads that are in the main content usually sit right under the page header. I feel these would be better further down the page. It's okay if they're in-between two paragraphs (many sites do this) but they look a bit strange right under the header. Also, I'd consider putting some faint green borders around the images to separate them out from the rest of the page.

I know some of those things may be difficult if you're using a template, but to be honest it's a great site so I wouldn't worry too much.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will make the changes as soon as I can. I thought the title image was sort of not fitting, but I wanted to just get something in there besides what they had before.

Any more criticism on my website are welcome. I just want to know how to make it more user friendly and allow visitors to get the information they need.

i agree with all above,
logo is perfect for a hot rod mechanic, it dosent fit well with this.
i realy hate the google ads so high on the page, right under the logo should be your own links,

and the google ads in the content should be at the bottom, (to make me happy)

the home page jumps strait in with how to contest a will, id rather some thing about why and how first, moor like the content on "how to make a will" page

Hey the design looks neat and clean just see if you can change the images , they do not well with the overall theme, i guess lot of yoiur content will become more relative if you can bring in related issues , geographical dimensions( as in how wills work in different geography) , also give options for the user to share your content add a gigya or an addit button

Thanks for the comments. I edited the site and gave it a new look. Took the ads under the title out. Took out the images. Added a bookmarking tool too.

Take out the google ads till you have reached at least 800 uniques per day. It't not worth it

Thanks for the help everyone! Any more comments and suggestions will be much appreciated. I took some of the Google ads out. I am still working on the Logo and trying to get a picture of a Will. I am working on some templates and examples.
