Try diagnosing problems with your car using my new website:
www.Car-Trouble.com
I have been working on this site probably a couple of hundred hours over the last 4 months, so any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Let me know what you think, and any suggestions you might have!
-- It is not 100% done, just recently was made mostly functional.
- The component diagnosis is still being revised.

Hiya,

An absolutely superb site in my personal opinion. I feel a site which serves a purpose such as this needs one thing: simplicity of use. That's exactly what you're site delivers.

It's obvious that the site has been well thought-out (i.e. diagnosis by symptoms AND components). The diagnostic process is logical, and the interface for this is very user friendly (the menu in symptoms and birds-eye in components).

Here are the things I would now do if it were my site (these are not criticisms, the site is fine as it is). These are all very small details mind:
  1. When you only select one symptom, it would nice to have a message under 'Common solutions for the chosen symptoms' to inform the user there are no common solutions since they only chose one symptom. Being a bit slow this confused me for a second .
  2. I'm aware of how difficult it can be to do this, but a more seamless design between the forum and the main site would be nicer. If you could just edit the template to keep you're own menu at the top that would help.
  3. For some reason, I don't know why, I feel the copyright belongs below the Google ads. Probably just me .
  4. On the header images and menu items there aren't any alt tags. These would be nice to see accessibility-wise.
  5. Last tiny point: The email on the contact page could do with a mailto: link just to make lazy internet users' lives that bit easier.
But as I say the site's great. I'l be bookmarking it as i can see it coming in handy .

Good luck with the site
Cheers

who is the site aimed at, diy mechanics im guesssin, maybey a tiny bit moor info on the home page about who you are and what your trying to do

a lot of the possible solutions will be very difficult for the average diy mechanic to fix, ie inspect fly wheel. but i guess haveing an idea of what could be wrong before takeing it to the local garage is very empowering.

just lookin thrugh symptom no start, and the list comes up not in the order i would expect, id start with test battery power, inspect electrical conection on starter motor, inspect starter. id make the list start with the most common fault thru to inspect exhaust! (how can a faulty exhaust stop it form starting?) so i think there is a lot moor work to get it all realy slick,

hey nice idea.... but needs more refining if you want to exploit it commercially, the design and the interface is a little unprofessional right now.... was wondering if you can add an option of live chat going into future .....see if it can work....
