Website Review and Suggestions

This is a latest creation that I wanted to make. I really enjoy movies (who doesn't?) and a few friends decided we should put together a movie review site. Well, I figured if we were going to do that, it had to be more than that as well!

So I configured it to have the core, movie reviews, and I tweaked the script out a little bit. I also added in News from TMZ and AOL on the front page, they automatically generate when they update. The slideshow is for articles that we write. The reviews have basic movie info, a trailer, and an Amazon referral link.

It also has a community module, so people can sign up and have a profile if they'd like too.

But, I feel that there is just something missing, no? Maybe the content on the front page needs more pictures? Or some movie stats? Something else to give the site a better feel. Anyone have some suggestions?

Great domain name and the website looks very professional. Id suggest maybe adding more content in the front page with more pictures as currently there are only 3, maybe have 5/6 pictures.

I like the youtube embedded videos with the reviews. I really think you've done a good job with this site.

Having to scroll to the right to see everything thats on offer on a website is always a turn off. It looks good but maybe you could somehow squeeze it all to fit (horizontally) the screen.

Hey man great looking website. One con: TAKE OUT THE GOOGLE ADS!!!!!! It absolutely screws the appeal of the site. Another issue is that the website is designed for horizontal 1152px resolution, which I think is a bit higher. I'd shrink it a bit or write a CSS fix adequating the page for lower resolutions.

I like it.

The color scheme is not very appealing though. Everything below the banner is far too gray, and the banner itself is a mess of colors that I dont think exactly mix well together.

Try a unified color scheme and adding something a little lighter to the bottom half of the page.

Hey everyone, sorry for the absence.. Had my tonsils taken out.

Yes, the template is designed for people with a uncommon resolution, bt that size is starting to become the norm, at least through Google Analytics I am showing favorable statistics, but it really should appeal to everyone.

I wish I could get rid of Google Ads! lol, but I need to make some money so they are there until I get some sponsorship or something

BTW - this websites started Feb1 and upon Googles first PR update it is now PR3! So, although an arbitrary number, at least we are doing something right over there.

I did change around the front page to show more pictures and reviews now, hopefully that appeals better.

If you need to have the Google ads... place them at the bottom of the page. Same with the other sponsored links. At first glance, the site looks generic. It has the look of a site designed to generate revenue instead of an informative site that will make people want to come back.

There is some good content on your site, but it gets lost. The parts that draw the viewer's eye are all advertisements.

Move the ads, get some color in your content. Introduce your site to the viewer. You have a Google PR of 3, which is good. Overall, I like it, but there are a lot of distractions.
