Greetings,

I've been working awhile on creating a new feel / style to The-Pixel (http://www.the-pixel.com). This design was inspired by color and uniqueness. I wanted to break away from the old design and test new waters. Thank you for your time and let me know what you think; comments and suggestions are always welcome.

First impression I like the design. It did take a little longer than I would like to load, but nothing horrible.

I like the curves in the design a lot, especially in the sidebar, where the services section is a little wider. The colors work well for me too.

One suggestion. The icons in the upper right don't really mean anything to me. I recognize the home icon, but I had to mosueover the sitemap and contact icons before I knew what the meant. The look good, but they aren't the most usable. You can probably find a better icon for the contact, though I'm not sure what you would use for the sitemap. Might be better to use text or text in combination with the icons even though it changes the look.

The page headings could stand to be a little bigger.

When I click the tabs at the top, the text temporarily moves to the left before moving back to where it was. I'm guessing that's not intentional.

Again it looks good overall.

The page loaded immediately for me.

I'm not sure what look you had before, or what "exactly" you were going for, but here's my take:

I like the fact that there's icons on the right side of the header, but like Steve, I didn't know what they were for without looking at their URLs or alternate text. Also, I'm not sure if you need both icons AND a tab, just one will do.

It's has a nice logo too, but then there's plenty of room next to it for something else. It's wasted screen real estate when it's practically blank space.

Also one thing I'm not a fan of though is the micro-fonts. It's really hard to read text so small when you have to squint.

Overall the design looks very professional too, so nice job.

good work overall. in addition to the comments above, i feel your portfolio doesn't show anything at all. each entry has this long thumbnail that doesn't show much. the problem with that is that it forces the viewer to have to click to see each website since they are unable to gauge your talent with the thumbnails. also, most of the time, the full site looks nothing like the thumbnail snippet - for better or worse.

it could be just me but i feel it's tacky to use "we" throughout your site when it's just you, a freelance individual. out of curiosity, what awards did you win for your designs?

You make very good points. I've taken what you have said and implemented them into my website. I never thought about the 'thumbnail' issue dealing with my portfolio as you stated. Thank you very much for helping me.
