Unfortunately I don't thing these sites serve their purpose.
Let's start with Kerralert: - The member login is mis-aligned about 5 pixels too low in Firefox
- It is too busy, too much loading at once, and loads a bit slow on a slower connection. Remember that the English reading eye travels naturally in a Z pattern, from left to right, then back to left, and then right again.
- The brushed metal theme doesn't seem to fit into what is going on, as well as the animations. It's all just un-needed. Informational sites need to be as simple as possible, and fast loading.
Option Premiums: - Still a slightly high loading time here.
- Too much white space.
- Where there is content, it's cluttered together.
I highly recommend looking over other templates, free templates and paid ones to get a good idea of how the flow of a website should be. Also I highly recommend using .png images as they will load much faster.
All in all, to me, these sites still have a way to go before they are ready for public use.
