Usually, before I start to review a site, I look at other sites on the web that you would be competing against in the serps, and see how your site fares in quality. Since the Medical Devices field is so large and competitive, I would have compared your site to the number one result. Since this is a redesign, I would have also checked to see how competitive your existing page is.
That's exactly what I did, and I was a bit surprised to see that your site was already the number one result for your search terms. Good job.
So, instead of comparing with other sites, I want to look at your existing page and compare it to your redesign.
Starting at the top...
No need to touch the banner or logo, it's clean, crisp and professional. I don't like the stark white box in the upper right hand corner for the employer site. I think adding just a hint of blue (not as dark as the background) would give you a more professional look. The wording on that link is better on the new version.
I like the navigation set-up better on the original page. I think the tab effect on the new version is distracting. A simple text link, with a lighter color for the current page, would be more effective. As it is now (on the new page) the large, white, rectangular tab is visually linked with the large, white, rectangular link for the employer site. This changes the composition of the banner and, effectively, ruins the look.
I do like the way you moved the logo down a bit past the edge of the banner on the new version. It's more interesting and gives the banner a bit more "pop".
I like the wording and the layout of the main text better in the new version.
I like the original page's login much better.
I like the Job Search on the UK version of your original site.
Your logo is shown again in the middle of the page, but this one is blurry. It might not be so noticeable, but the black text next to it is so crisp and sharp, that the blurriness of the logo is amplified.
The original page has a link to helpful tips when writing a resume. Why not bring this link to the new design? You should also create a link to the UK version. If you use the British flag, like on the original page, I would include a short explanation. When most people see the flag on a website, they think it's a link to the English language version of a site.
Change the words "You Control Your Confidentiality" to something like "We protect your confidentiality" or "Your job search is confidential".
That's about it. You already have a nice site, a good page rank and excellent placement in the serps. I wouldn't go crazy with your changes, because what you already have WORKS.
Good Luck!
