Website Review and Suggestions

Hi Guys,

Please have a look at our website and give us your reviews. I run the company in Nigeria and am trying to blend contemporary design styles with an African feel.

Here are some major things I found.

- The markup isn't valid. (This is extremely important for a buyer.) Take a look at http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.unotechmedia.com%2F&cha rset=(detect+automatically)&doctype=Inline&group=0 &user-agent=W3C_Validator%2F1.654 for the errors.

- I want to click the rss image but I can't

Other than that though it looks okay. There's a spelling error on the first page (right sidebar > second update > functionality is spelled functionalty ) I like the color scheme and it looks real professional. I would use it if I needed a web page. Good luck.

These are the things that stuck out when I looked at your website design:

The logo contrast isn't great. It's a bit difficult to read. The shadow effect you have around the logo isn't helping.

The navigation text is difficult to read. Again, it appears there is a shadow or blur affect. It's hard on my eyes.

The photo on the right side of the header is attractive. Why are you fading it? It would have more of an impact on me if it wasn't semi transparent.

I like your green header text. It's effective and contrasts well against the paragraph text.

I'm enjoying the little images you have littered throughout the content. The pencils are nice looking.

When I saw your portfolio highlights I thought to myself: "Portfolio highlights, at last!" I would suggest moving the highlights above the "Web Design Nigeria » Unotech Media" text. I'm more interested in seeing your work than reading text, and a lot of people won't scroll down the page.

The footer is strong and attractive looking.

Nice work. Your portfolio looks good. I might space out the different designs a little more. It's a bit confusing for me. I'm not sure if the text is supposed to be for the design above or the design below.

I completely agree with Blake. The quality on 95% of your graphics is great but the one that needs it the most....your logo, is terrible. The actual logo is neat but the presentation is dull.

The site looks really good aside from that.

@Alex, i've checked out the errors and spelling mistakes and would adjust accordingly.

Blake, thanx for your thorough analysis. I think i agree with you guys that the logo really doesn't stand out enough. Would work on it and let you guys review.

As per the navigation, i gues its the contrast against the 'black' background that makes it look harsh. I'lld try out some shades of grey. Meanwhile there's neither a shadow nor blur effect on the text.
Also would try out your other suggestions.

@Chris thanx. Would work on the logo immediately.

First, I like it. It's pretty much 2.0 design and it's nice. They're right about your Type graphics (including logo) that are blured, unacceptable. But this appart, everything's fine.

For SEO, you must have good keywords in meta tag.
I think that you have more then 3 fonts on home page.
Sans-serif, definitely.
