Hi folks, I've got a site geared toward helping the disabled locate benefits. I'm disabled and thought helping others would be great. The site has been up for a few years.

Please take a look and let me know what ya think. http://www.disabilityhelpsite.com

And the forum (my previous one was severely hacked. Started a new one).

I've checked your website. Keep up the spirit. I like your effort. Just a single thing about the simple looking website: remove the unnecessary space from the bottom of the page, so that the height of the home page becomes same to the height of the contents.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I use Firefox almost exclusively. In F.F it looked OK. I checked it out in I.E and you're right, the space at the bottom was excessive. I fixed the prob (I hope). Thanks for your input.

Thanks, you're right about disABLED being integrated. I used that with my last template but haven't with this one yet.

it seems a strange choice of colours - it looks a little old and cold, or maybe the colours are just too primary... (redd yellow blue)

more photos and graphics would be nice

don't underline text that isn't a link and it would makes pages easier to read if you had a consistent font size for text and headings with more important headings being being and used in a hierarchy (a page heading in h1, section headings in h2 and sub headings in h3 etc)

a bit more line height between text wouldn't go amiss either - it would make the text easier to read

otherwise it's presentable and i assume a great resource for people looking for information

It's a nice forum for a great cause. I think no one has ever done this good before and you opened this new opportunity for the disabled persons to be able to join this social networking site. Continue doing this.

Thanks for the input. I agree about the underlined text, definitely something to work on. I chose the colors so it would be...soothing I guess. The way I figured it folks that folks would coming there looking for info would appreciate a "calm" look and feel.

I appreciate your words of encouragement. I hope people looking for benefits, information and/or advice will find my site. I'm finding it hard to get a good SE rank right now. Gotta keep plugging away I guess.

Thanks scarmus1, it's a rewarding cause. Many people have been provided info that has helped them or a family member.

looks alright but it has a very 1999 feel to it. i would recommend using a script or something because it will make your site look better if you can find a good one. you have all the info and what not, you just need to make it look a bit nicer in my opinion

Hi valenea, I'm pretty much a novice at web design, could you give me a short description of what you mean by "using a script".

Great content, but a site like this deserves a great logo as well.

Thanks,

You're right on the logo. Not much on making a good logo (a work in progress).

Thanks, I've been checking out color combinations and new templates. It's pretty time consuming.

I think you should apply more on accessibility techniques if you build the site for disabled people.

You're 100% correct websam. This is an ongoing build. Accessibility is definitely on the to do list.

I have changed color schemes. For those who saw the original colors, what's your thoughts on the new?
