Website Review and Suggestions

We have been working on our website www.ribbonsbaskets.com since November of last year (08). Since then the site has seen three updates.

been working on optimizing SEO, design issues, content rewriting and fixing of product attributes...etc.

There are some eye sores with the website but looking over those problems I was hoping for some insight on what others thought about the site. Any criticism on the layout, purchase process, products themselves, and any SEO tips would be so greatly appreciated.

(Best viewed in IE, as of the last few days the category sidebar in Firefox is pushed down about 30 or so pixels from the correct position. Still trying to correct this.)

Open to any comments, we are also offering a Customized Ribbons Basket we have designed. Just trying to get some good pictures of it before uploading and promoting.

Your front page needs more impact, whether that come in the form of a catchier logo or a more interesting product line up. The problem is that you are competing with the "Harry & Davids" of the world as well as many, many other established gift basket retailers. It appears you've optimized your site for "gift baskets" but what makes your site different? Are you offering any unique goods or services?

Thanks for the post, I agree we have needed something that sets us apart from the other gift companies out there.

I am just not sure what would give us that uniqueness to stand apart from the others. We did create our own gift basket yesterday, maybe I could start thinking about a custom gift basket service where as people can in essence design there own baskets. Not sure about that idea, im open to others.

We have also thought about dropping the price a bit lower than our competetors but we do not really want to undercut other companies in the industry.

As long as the SEO is sound on the site I believe we should start seeing more traffic and ultimatly more sales. Though, I agree we need an edge, just not sure what that edge will be...

The layout of your site is too clutter. You need to change the color of your site because it is quite dull. The search button area is too small for the user to use it when they want to search something in the site. Some of the links are covered with the picture.

I am an owner of an ecommerce site too and for me to save my time and effort, I bought a shopping cart template from AlgoZone, they are the leader in shopping cart templates. Although their products are quite expensive, I am happy with what I have invested because my customers are having a great time when they visit my site.

Thank you so much for the response, right now I am looking in to any browser issues and will be fixing them today. I am not sure that I know how to make it less clutterful, I figured that this is what the customer would want to see on the front page.

I am noticing that the site has some major issues in other browsers. I am running IE8 and it looks great. I will be fixing these issues today, they did not exist in the previous version of this site. This is also probably why I was not recieving many responses here.
