Here is my portfolio website:

http://www.markgoodyear.co.uk/

Aswell as my portfolio, its basically a tool for selling myself, so i'm also looking for any constructive criticism regarding any of the copy, aswell as the overall design

Thanks in advance!

I think it's a pretty nice and clean design. Adding an image or icon near the top might add a bit more appeal to the site. Also maybe a more colorful fav icon might look good.

I like it because it is plain but effective since your portfolio is immediately available to view for those who doubt the simplicity.

Only thing I may consider would be adding the blue hover effect you have on the Naivgation to the H tags but other then that I like it.

Clean and organized design. I like the fact that you have some of your portfolio on the main page as opposed to your old site which made you go through the menus first.

I don't exactly know why but your layout gave me a headache. I feel like there the sections are too big for the page. Try to unfix that top bar and it would be better to me. Though I understand that you would loose your scrolling effect. Maybe its my screen resolution (1280x800) on 19 inches screen.

hmm about your layout the only thing that I see is a white background and some huge fonts. But I like the way you choose the fonts well. I think you really needed to put some graphical designs at the background like the ones that you created in the portfolio. I think that's about it. really clean and organize. keep up the good work.

Thank you all for your comments!

@jonroy:
I'm on a 1280x800 13.3" screen, and what you bring up about the menu being fixed has been a tricky one for me. Whilst it does help navigate, it does loose quite abit of viewing space, and especially on small screens, every pixel counts so i've been unsure! What does anyone else think about the menu bar?

your overall layouts was bland but your graphics were very cute and amazing. For some one who also enjoys graphic design i thought the poster was cute! Keep adding!

Looks pretty good Mark.

1) The navigation menu needs more contrast. I didnt notice it until I was about to
leave the site.
2) Instead of text links, add some Social Media icons for Twitter and Facebook. Do a google search on "AddThis" button script.
3) Its a bit long. I would try a JQuery accordian style layout to fit the main section headings above the fold.
4) You must be getting hit from spammers by having your email address on the page. You should set up a Contact form. Icebrrg.com has some easy WYSIWYG setup tools if you dont want to do it yourself.
5) Not sure if you want to target a geographic area but if so you should put some SEO friendly geo keywords in the title tags. Also Google Webmaster Tools geo targeting of course.
6) You need a favicon.

Overall though. I liked it.
Nice portfolio by the way.

Hi, I like the idea of a one-page portfolio. Looks clean and neat.

But I agree that the main menu needs to be more distinguishable, maybe try a very light font color? Also the horizontal line in the middle of the menu (the bevel effect) interferes a little with the menu text.

It is really a great portfolio though...Good luck!

I like the design but what distracts the eyes is your introduction. Too big font, and the logo isn't visible, yes it's there but it doesn't have an impact.

Thank you again for the comments!

@TWD: I'm not getting hit from spammers, but i was looking into a contact form, also makes it easier for the client! I'll also add a fav icon to the todo list!

What does anyone think about making it a multipage site? Same layout, but on the main page i could have a rotating image of my 3 most recent projects, and i could possibly add a mini blog with an RSS feed to keep fresh content and updates appearing for SEO. Then the other pages will be more or less as they are.

I don't know how it would fair up against a single page site, but unless i add more javascript to scroll through the portfolio, say have 6 or 9 images on show at a time, the single page will end up as one massive one!
