Website Review and Suggestions

Hello. I recently started an online lingerie store. The store name is Yellow Venus. For some reason, people do not buy or even register at my store. I did everything what experts said. What are the problems with my store? Your opinions are appreciated. Thank you.

You have a great looking site but it looks like you were given some incomplete advice. It doesn't look like your site has been optimized at all and obvious keywords like "lingerie" haven't been targeted. And you have no backlinks so I would imagine your traffic is very low. One thing-It looks like you've started a forum (which is a good idea) but it contains no content! Who want's to start a conversation in an empty room? Get in there and post lingerie-related articles like your life depends on it.

Other little things, the lingerie buying guide is a great idea but it links to another site. Your should create your own guide and link to it.

Simply there is no confidence and trust in your website. People cannot just give their personal info to a stranger. Right? You need to come up with testimonials.

I suggest you to re-design the detail page, http://www.yellowvenus.com/product_i...roducts_id=232. It's messy and complicated. I suggest you to look at your competitors websites and learn from them. Understand your customers are the key.

Regarding to keyword stuff, I would recommend you to focus local clients first. You get better traffic this way. If you expect someone from Edmonton, Alberta to find your website, you got 72 million competing websites for the keyword, lingerie. I know you from the New York area, guess what you got 13 million competing websites. Now you do the math.

For some reason I just couldn't open your website. I've no problem with my internet connection. You might want to review design in the light of your pages' loading speed; I don't know...

Anways, as a general advice, people need to know your site exists. you need to do serious SEO stuff on your site and have it optimized. you need to build links, social media marketing.

you can do social bookmarking, link building, write articles about your site, submit your site to directories, all that stuff.

if you need someone to do these for you, you can always get a freelancer. here's a reputable site. Otherwise, you can do some mean reading and do the optimization yourself.

Hello Nick, I think your sites design is good, as are many sites with few visitors. SEO is always a good idea, however you have a lot of competition in this industry from people who have been around a while and are pretty well known. I'm going to send you a PM with something else you may want to try in addition to the traditional methods of avertising.

Firstly on behalf of the WMT contributors let me say thank you for giving us such nice content to review

Second, unfortunately a lot of so called experts don't really know what they are talking about.
And there is no easy way to sort the gold nuggets from the road apples.

I don't think there is anything fatally wrong with the design.
There are lots of things that could be done to improve it though.

1) The thumbnail images and some of the other images are not properly scaled to fit the HTML dimensions.
The result is that the images look stretched and in most cases it makes the girls look fat

2) I don't really like the side navigation.
I can tell that some of the menu items have submenus but I can't see what they are without clicking on them. Thats poor usability.

3)If I click in the search box you are making me backspace to clear the default text "search..." Again, poor usability.

4) The 3 girls on the front have huge white space gutters between them.
You would be much better off changing the dimensions to fit 4 girls neatly side by side.

5) In the Specials box your Details button returns "product not found".

6) Your blog link takes me off to some completely foreign looking site with no obvious way to get back.

7) The Forum has no entries. Its your responsibility as the owner to "seed" the forum with topics that might attract some interest.

Looks like somebody was definitely cutting corners.

I could mention more but that's enough for you to think about.

But as mentioned the real issue is getting visitors to your site.

I would recommend 4 things to improve your visitor metrics:

1) A well crafted Pay Per Click campaign.
People who play with fire get burned and a lot of small business
people complain about the cost of PPC. Its usually because
they dont know what the are doing.
There are strategies to get the most out of this approach.

2) Most "SEO experts" are snake oil salesmen so you tread with caution.
But you should look at how to optimize your site a bit better for natural search.
Your title tags could be organized a bit better for a start.

3)Promote your site with link bait.

A lot of guys would find this REALLY useful and link to it and you would get awesome SEO benefits -IF (sadly) they could find it.
Its buried 2 clicks deep into your site!
I would put a link and a teaser description on your home page.

4)Promote your site with social media
Get out there and be active with Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, StumbleUpon etc.
Again, most business owners don't have a clue about how to leverage these business tools effectively.

You should promote your site by various means including press release, tweeting and stumbling. ALL THE BEST!!!
