Website Review and Suggestions

Please review my website.. Design, code, usability, SEO.. whatever.. This site is very new.. It's been up for about a week.

I like your site it is very nice, but maybe if you can when you go to a category instead showing a lot of videos, make it just 2 with paging (with ajax ) or somethink like that. Or maybe just a list with links and when you click that video will load. I dont like it very much that. The design is very nice, you only need some re-structure

Yea.. that is a pretty good idea.. I probably wont' do it though.. just bcuz I recently added the "View All" button at the top.. which allows the user to see every single preview posted.. or they can search..Thanks for your feedback though.. keep them coming.

I dont give a lot of positive reviews because most of what gets posted
here is crud.

Put your site is great

I added it to my personal bookmarks.
An excellent example of WordPress as a CMS
by the way.

Just a couple of things.
It would be much better if you could
show a an image behind the play button
on each trailer. Just the black backscreen
looks a little uninviting.
Maybe one of the Flash gurus could
help out.

Also I think you could employ better
rollover effects on your menus.

And how about a favicon.

I would also try adding some Social media
icons. Google search "AddThis".

I'd take another look at your logo too.
At first glance I thought it was a garden
snail and couldnt quite make the connection

You should take another look at the
Contact Page. Add some better validation.
You are already using JQuery so why
not add the JQuery form validator.

I assume that your business model is to
add Google Adsense eventually?
You'll need to plan for that and make
sure it doesnt wreck the layout.

Good job overall.
You should do alright.

Whoa TWD.. Great feedback..

There is an image behind the play button.. you should be seeing it.. Which browser are you using? Im using IE7 and FireFox.. and I see it fine..

Other than that.. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.. I'll get started on adding all of that other functionality / tweaks immediately! Thanks for your suggestions

Hey TWD...

I've added a Favicon, Added Social Bookmarking and updated the Logo.. I still can't figure out why the Video Player Images aren't popping up in Firefox.. but it's working in IE..

Tomorrow I'll look into that JQuery Form Validation idea.. Thanks for all of your great ideas..

I tested in IE7, Chrome and Opera and the Video Player Images all appear in
those browsers. I am using Firefox 3.5 and that browser doesnt show em.

The first thing I would do is clean up your code a bit and try to fix some of the validation errors. Firefox is a stickler for web standards so you should try to eliminate as many as you can before you go looking for further help.
I noticed for example that you have multiple "player" IDs.
On any given page the ID should be unique so if you can change it to a Class.

I like the new logo much better.

And I would still like to see a bit more stylish rollover effects in the main menu. Ex. background changes as well as text on mouse hover.

Overall I'd give it a 7.5
Appearance: I like the logo. Not too thrilled about the black background though. The layout is a little odd but could be because I’m on IE6. Everything is lined up in one column. I’m also seeing duplicate players for each movie
Functionality: Slight delay in load time while navigating
Content: Content is what I expected from the domain name.
Technical: Good spelling and grammar

Hahahah.. ya.. I don't even cater to IE6 anymore..

I view IE6 as a snobby b*$@! that views everything I do as wrong.. finally she's dying out though.. as I smile ever so gently.. then I just get disgusted when people tell me that she says my stuff is wrong all over again.. I hate her..

oh.. I knew it was working before, but all of a sudden it just stopped.. I figured it was from some other code that I added to my site or something.. Anyways.. I remembered that I had made it so people couldn't hotlink my images.. I had to tweak the hotlinking settings, so it didn't think that my own site was trying to hotlink.. hahaha.. once I did that.. wah lah..

So it was in the .htaccess settings?
Funny that the other browsers would ignore those instructions then

Flash objects can be a bit quirky I guess.
