Website Review and Suggestions

Okay, I'll preface this with - I'm about the furthest thing from a designer. I like code. I sat down and took a crack at actually completely a design from start to finish on my own. This is what I came out with:

Please all give me any thoughts you have, but keep it constructive. I'm aware some things might not line up right. My photoshop skills are not perfect, but this should be hammered out when transferring to xHTML and CSS. So have at ripping it apart and thank you in advance.

Looks like a good start.
But you should rethink your color scheme.
Black and red together is very difficult to pull off.

Also your menu in the footer looks redundant.
If you are going to use a Flash or JS powered main
menu than it might still be a good idea but you
should really use a different font.

Needs more WOW! You have an interesting layout but the gray, black and white background is so boring and blah. You will be having visitors falling asleep at their keyboard when they visit your website. I strongly suggest to add different colors. A suggestion would be to add the colors in text and use the text colors and implement them into the background.
