I been working on a design for a banking institution that offers a 90 day no credit check financing program for merchants.

Still working on the navigation bar that will be a horizontal list styled in css and added just above the footer.

First of all, its more the beginning of a page rather than a site.
Second, you might want to start with a standard website template, such as those found in most web design programs. I use Microsoft Web Expression 2 and it comes with alot of modern, attractive templates.
Third, I would visit alot of other sites that are in the same business to see what their design & navagation looks like and get content ideas.
Good luck and never give up!

*Money Stack .gif doesn't blend well with the green. You should consider placing that .gif on a light background otherwise look for a .png alternative or place that gif on a green background in a graphics program and turn it into a .jpg and then reload it onto your website for a neater look

*Your navigation is tucked away beneath the HOW IT WORKS - it's not really the ideal place to place a site navigation - why don't you relocate it to the top right since there is a bit of space there?

*why not green and white with hints of yellow as opposed to green and yellow with hints of white?

I try to stay clear of those cookie cutter templates. The only time I work with those is when I have to work the kinks out of a template pre-purchased by client before hiring a designer.

Conquerer, thanks for your input. I've been working on reconstructing the money stack image in Illustrator. Client supplied image and the transparency is a little corroded around edges. I got a change order in progress to create a replica that works better in forefront.
The choice of placement for the navigation was an attempt to lead the user through the page and have a call to action for the "next" page. The flow chart I created for client actually turned into a stream of logical navigation through the lead generation process. The bar at the bottom is like any other footer navigation on any other page. The lack of a nav bar on top of page is for a reason; to lead user through page, one step at a time.

There's white on a page? I wasn't aware of that. There's not a bit of #fff in the stylesheet.
Green and Linen were part of the client's chosen color palette.

the upfront finance logo doesn't work as the front obscures the word finance

don't underline text that isn't a link

nav would be better at the top because i feel lost without it!

pity about the green and linen - the linen is too yellow for my liking

i like the 'impact' for <em>

it's not that appealing to me overall but i guess for the target audience it's proably suitable.

Honest opinion: I do not see a professional institution when I see that website. The text gives it away. It is very rough around the edges. The money gif's transparency is very poor and will not create a good image for the entity you are promoting.

I didn't like the color combination.

I didn't like the green color theme in your website, I think you should opt for more professional color like blue to give a feeling of a company.

I sort of agree about not underlining words that are not hyperlinks. I'm surprised no hardcore html authors didn't point out my use of <u> when it is depracated.

sort of agree? why not fully agree? there is no case for underlining text that isn't a link.

no point mentioning that underline is deprecated when it's only for links and it's catered for with text-decoration in css

I wonder why <u> was introduced in HTML as a text formatting tag to begin with?
I understand why it is depracated, as the general public's conotation with underlined text being considered a link.

Basic site, not the most attractive. Kind of reminds me of a popup, no offense.

I agree with davemies the upfront FINANCE is really hard to make out. The site doesnt make me want to go past the first page, I dont see it as an affective site sorry.

So a change of colors. Maybe a more muted background.
Make the logo colors more readable; more contrast. Possibly inverting the color hues, so "Finance" is darker and "upfront" is lighter.
Add a top navigation in header.
Make the image edges more crisp.

Any other suggestions?
Or did I hit on everything?

i don't want to burst any bubbles but it looks like a early 90s geocities page, you may want to look at some more modern site designs and color swatches

Hi,
Had a look at your website, Looks to me lot ok with the current status, but try putting the navigational links to the top of the left vertical.

Thats all that I fugured out yet.
