We are getting ready to do a complete redo and want suggestions from you guy's since you do this all day and have seen it all.

What do you like and what do you think should be there?

Also i would like suggestions on colors and layout.

We do a lot more than cables and connectors. We also do home theater, consulting, Churches, Government contracts...so take that into consideration as far as layout.

Thank you

Hi - ok this is what I would do...

I think your colour scheme is not bad. The purple/orange/grey and black you got going looks pretty good but obviously just outdated with your oscommerce standard template look so I don't think colour is something you have to dwell on...too much.

Consider making the navigation more clearer this time round with a more bold and spacious look. Your current navigation seems stretched to me.

Lose the excess content on your homepage - you have affiliate programs, top 10s, whats new, etc. etc. and replace it with gifs or areas to your "goverment contracts/consulting" etc. because to me it just looks like a cable website and nothing more. I guess you can blame the graphic-header at the top for that.

I am also designing a cable website for a HIFI/home cinema store in London so I did my research and basically what I found (based on research relative to this store) is that most customers come to the website knowing which cable they want as per magazine reviews or advice and thus just want a fast, straightforward user experience.

All this "welcome to here, register here, affiliate this, " gets dumped and it is just quick user experience shopping - if they are stuck then there is a large number at the top to call which would then be forwarded to customer service who can then use their knowledge to sell items otherwise click on item description for detailed info.

Your category icons seem a bit old school to me - I would ditch it and keep the categories to the left and then have the whole of the middle space dedicated to just random items appearing.

well, that's all I could come up with for now.

Thank you, everything is outdated...lol. We put it up to get it working and the bugs out.

Now comes the real site.

I appreciate the input.

I don't have to. I just don't want the 2 months of data entry to be void.

Have a suggestion?

I've worked with osCommerce and I think I've worked with Zen Cart so I was just curious as to whether you were sticking with it.

I'm about to use Magento for the next project - I've read good things about it so I thought I'd give it a try.
