My Photographer site for review

So I have been building my site for a couple of months, on and off learning as much as I can from the internet and my CSS book.

I have settled on a new color, logo, and layouts, On recommendation of users on here when I posted my website for review before (it was a green colour) I now use black and a splash of color (red)

I also have an HTML roll over gallery that was from a tutorial I found online. You will see I used a table layout for the first and second pages to get the divided look, is there another way of doing this, as I think that's causing me errors in the code?

I checked the site on firefox and IE7, it seems fine except for the last image on the 'art' gallery which I need to work out how to fix

I do have some errors that I need to fix, I will go through the code validation for that

Found some great free resources on line for the roll over gallery and menu bar, If anyone is interested I will post the links.

Thanks for taking the time to look, here is the site:

looks ok, a bit of work needs to be done on the coding. Meta tags etc. there are some great free online resources for codes of practice when making a site and also making it search engine friendly. Looks good though

I'd recommend making it a blog format with a better, custom theme - in my opinion, that looks like an old 2002 website (sorry!). Great photos though, I'm a budding photographer myself.

Looks good. I like the layout and your logo. I'm using Firefox and it's working well in case you wanted to know.

My recommendations:

Adjust the padding, your text is like right against the edge of the divs. I don't think the black w/ white text works very well with the gray header (in my opinion). On the contact page, you should use a contact "form" instead of a mailto, not all people have an email client such as outlook etc etc as most use web email, yahoo, gmail, hotmail etc. The gallery is ok, I'd suggest a different one though, you can only see the images enlarged when you "roll-over" them. Try here http://smoothgallery.jondesign.net/ a lot of people use this javascript gallery. You can also look around here as well http://www.hotscripts.com/ . The buttons seem to blend in with the below div being that its backrgound is black.

Hi

  • As webdev said; add some padding to your <P> (paragraphs).
  • You have a standard width to your layout but it seems like your website doesn't need all that space since some of your pages look empty. You should consider adding border-lefts/rights and possibly a permanent spot for your portfolio throughout the website so that any page a user lands on can also see your portfolio at all times.
  • Your header hogs a lot of space - again you seem to be overkilling on the allocation of space

I remember your website from a month back or so - it looks much better now than it did before.

I Will look at the padding too.

Yeah it looks okay it's good weldone your talented. You should think of doing it professionally. I like rollovers I use them in my sites. It's a nice website for yourself and an insight into your own life I guess. For me the last image was working okay in Firefox. You should work more on your contact page though instead of just an email address like that. :/ Anyway hope you get some clients!
