Here's my first site. I value all opinions and suggestions. I'm still working on getting some hiking and biking designs added. So, those sections are blank for now. Perhaps I should hide those and put some designs on the front page...

i like the stickers/icons (which incidentally should be gifs or png-8s) but it looks like we're still on the pavement! it all looks cold and grey... try using some trail colours

brown for earth, green for grass, blue for sky and maybe one of those colours (but not the default blue) for links

like this perhaps
http://pp.kpnet.fi/prescott/stuff/trail.jpg

and you could have some stickers on bags/jackets/fleeces so you can see them 'in action' and against coloured backgrounds (i.e. rain jacket etc) maybe?

Great remark. It definitely has a pavement feel to it. I like your suggestions and will add more color to bring it to life.

As for the png issue, I'm using a php script that allows me to host my own cafepress shop. It seems like the section headings and product images come across as jpg even though I upload them as png within cafepress. Not sure if I can fix that.

Any ideas on a good search function? I was trying to use Google Custom Search but they aren't indexing my product pages fast enough for it to be beneficial. So, I'm thinking of going with a paid search engine such as wrensoft's Zoom.

I've updated the site with your design suggestions and it looks a lot better. I also added a java/flash scroller with some of the designs. I need to make the images a little smaller and see if it will work with png files instead of jpg.

Thanks for the comments. I've been monkeying around with different scrollers so you may currently be seeing something funky. The original one required square images and I want to use rectangle images that fit the sticker design a little better.

I haven't started trying to direct traffic to the site yet (other than this forum). So, I have some flexibilty on what I leave on the page. But, I'd like to get the website design wrapped up so I can start working on sales as well as adding biking and hiking trails because I have a large number of them I haven't created yet.

Hello,
I think I have this site to the point where I want to start actively directing people to it. Please take a look and provide your criticism, it is appreciated!

http://www.trailsticker.com

FYI, I'll probably be running a graphic design contest for a logo and/or header within the next few days.

The site has software that integrates a Cafepress shop into my own domain. If the idea is feasible, I may switch to printing my own product and using a eCommerce solution with a cart. But for now, the shopping cart is Cafepress.

I just took a look at your site and if i was you i would take those scrolling image things off of the first page because they are really really distracting.

I second that, it takes away from the site. Its fine to have Flash, but I would suggest that you don't have three of them.

Thanks. I was hoping people would comment on those scrollers. I have another idea that I'll try this weekend.

According to me the header size should be decreased. The scroller disturbs the line of thought and visitor misses on the site theme. Its too flashy. Try to avoid this . Its unique but if not solving the purpose , it's of no use.
