Website Review and Suggestions

I would like for people to review my site and tell me your thoughts on it. I am not 100% finished with it but I do have at least 4 pages done. The site is www.tutsportal.com I hope to upgrade it in the future but for now it will have to do.

Look like it needs some more work..I guess it *could* turn out pretty good if you work at it. I'm not a photoshop fan at all. I am happy with gimp.

you should optimize it to work with different computers. EX: It shows perfectly on my laptop but the size is really big on my older computer (from 2007).

Thanks for your honesty and I agree it does need work. You are definitely right on that rednimaT and I will work on making my site viewable in smaller screen sizes. I have to work on my header. Need to make it smaller in width.

Your site definitely stands out!

1. I would optimize the use of space on top
2. There is a lot of empty space below footer
3. I think a lot of people, me including, find flashing stuff (like on your top banner) to be annoying.
4. When I clicked "The Basics of Photoshop 1" I got this weird no content page.

1.I think the green in your banner completely clashes with the teal and the red that you have going on in there

2."a magical doorway to distant tutorials" is a little corny and is written in a font that is from 98 with a reflection so its contradicting eachother in a way

3.it shouldnt be as wide

4.and the tabs at the top are hard to decipher the words until you rollover them because they are so close together

sorry to be so blunt but i feel like an internet forum is the only place people are going to get the truthful criticisms they need

I love your designs & your logo really fits it. I suggest fixing the footer though.
There's this huge blank space at the bottom. Also, a forum maybe be a good addition to your site.

1.It did not work well with my browser and I had to constantly use the scroll bar.
2. I like the green color. It stands out and catches my eye.
3. The footer is way to long and easy to fix.
4. I use the Contact Us button and it took a long time to load. I tested on another browser and the same thing. Not sure if my computer or the page but it was the all others pages were fast loading.

I think you are off to a good start. Keep working and it will be great.

CrazyCalm, thank you so much for giving me your advice and praise on my site. I have done all of the requested changes that have been suggested by all who replied.(I think) I changed my logo and removed the top banner, reduced the size of my footer and most important fixed my site size for smaller screens. (hope you like the changes)

I really like this forum. thanks again to all and keep sending me suggestions on making my site better!!

I think you made great changes to the header, very nice it looks alot better now that there is no green that clashes and what you did to the "O" makes it look a little more like a portal.

and the font you picked for the saying you have looks much much better.

Thanks Mander,

I am taking this seriously, so any comments made I will try to make the changes that's if it makes sense and if more people agree in making those changes. I am here to make my site better and taking advice from people that have been in the business of creating sites or that know about design is a good way of making that happen. I am a graphic designer for a local shopper here in Brownsville so I know something about design. I am not an expert but I learn fast. I'm the webmaster for a ship recycling company and at the moment finishing off a site for a candidate running for commissioner here in Brownsville which I will be the Webmaster also. I am very busy but I do make time to work on my own site.

great color gammma in your design also imprest logo and head of site. Change menu, make it in flash.
