Why forums? A blog can already support your website. Why blog? because blogs are less time consuming and maintenance. Maintaining forums can be additional cost because you will hire moderators and admins.

A blog does not bring back people like a forum can, depending on the website. I have a travel website where I have a new forum with about 30 people who return everyday and post on my forum, while my blogs get a post a month
