Ok,

It's on a free host, but give it some time to build some profit, and it will have it's own name!

Note: I am using Firefox to preview my site, which looks good, and will check out IE in a moment, but as far as the free server ads go, I don't see any, do you? Ex: popups or whatever elese? I am going to check it out in IE 8 Now.

Note: I see the problem with the <span tag, which I am going to fix right now. That's fixed, but I also note the font size issue. I don't think I should worry about that, what do you think, should I fix it? Will it adjust accordingly to the size in firefox? Basically, I am just happy I finished this project. It brought back quite a bit database knowledge. Now I have to make some income, something I haven't seen for a couple of years...

Need I say more?

After looking at the site for a bit, I'm not entirely sure what it's about.

What does it mean to be "linked up"? What services do you offer? Are you selling them a link on your site? Is it a directory? I'm just not entirely sure what you're offering, or what type of feedback you're looking for...

I know, I am not finished with it totally, and don't really know how it will be used or abused, but the site will allow one to submit a logo of their website and then have it listed on the index which is viewable from the main page. For the most part, it will NOT replace the google, but for sure it will allow anyone to use it, and the limit is only 25 cents to submit a site. Of course your results will then be listed in other search engines in google because the linkup is entirely search engine friendly so if you decide to go with an all flash site, people will still find you through linkup.

To sum it up, linkup will make it so you can create whatever kind of 'NON-SEARCH ENGINE FRIENDLY" pages and linkup will do the search engine job for you.

Basically, for those who own social networking pages / personal pages or brand new sites that usually get no exposure, linkup is a way to get those pages noticed

This idea really didn't have an idea to start with, it was just pulled out of thin air...Believe me it really was but now it has amounted to more than that. Links are sorted by price, so the higher the price you submit, the closer your site is listed to the top level of the domain, which mean better results for other browsing the index, or other search engines.

I doubt many people will pay to have their link on your site, i am not positive though other than that the site looks pretty good.

The index page is dynamically done, so when you add your link, it will be listed right away, and on top of that, sorted by price. No one gets cheated. You get what you paid for. Higher the price, closer you are listed to the top level of the domain, less time to find that site.

$.25 cents is cheap to have a link posted, even if it's only a text link. So an image just tops it off.

Another thing, the links are automatically added before payment, but I will take it that the site will be used rather than abused.

Tbh, It doesn't look that good, I dont like giving bad reviews but this does look bad.

I wouldn't pay to have my link on your site either

The design looks very old, There NO content whatsoever so visitors will pass by very quickly.

It is essentially a very bad version of something like : http://www.feedmyapp.com/
And they do it free!

And yeah. NEVER! assume it wont be abused!

If your system has a hole, or can be re-worked to do something it shouldnt.

IT WILL BE DONE!

So how would anyone start from a free web hosting company? I remember back when I had my own domain, it was nothing like these free hosting companies. They limit so many of their features that your time is used up creating / researching some kind of idea that will work on that particular host, which will probably never amount to anything anyway.

My final thought, do what is quick, BUT be legit, don't steal from anyone and you are good to go. If one can think of it, IT CAN BE DONE! So all who don't think this idea will work, THINK OF IT LIKE THIS, IF IT CAN BE DONE, I WILL BE THE ONE TO ACCOMPLISH THE GOAL!

Btw, if after you read this, it reminds you of 3 Doors Down / Let me be myself, that's what I am listening to right now. Funny right?

I noticed something very bad on my part. I had some bad php code, but I just resolved it. That was close. Anyway...lynxus, I received you image into my directory, but I removed it since you decided to not pay. I don't care if you don't want to pay, but PLEASE don't spam, I am sure you have a child to take care of or something to cook. Please do whatever you want, but don't spam. It's doesn't look good for your internet profile. Take care guys.

If you do not make it where people can not just add anything they want to your website, then you are going to get so much spam that you are not going to be able to control it or it is going to be an all day job to remove it all.

Yep, because once it is "known" that the link is instant and "free" the porn spammers, pharmacy & "online casino" link droppers. The "related" link beggars and scroungers will all be beating a (virtual) path to your (virtual) front door.

And I can assure you that it won't be to deposit money in your Paypal account!

Not to be rude to anyone, but why do you insist that just because of this 'type' of site, it will generate lots of spam and bad traffic? I have created this site not just to make a few cents, but basically to see if my database skills were up to par from what I have had to re-learn from this forum. I don't plan on building "this" site too much, but if it turns out profitable, then I will buy a domain for it.

Whether you guys know it or not...It's not alot of maintenance cleaning up the spam posts. I am just worried about the amount bandwidth usage since I am on a free host. For those who wouldn't mind using my service, I am always doing my best to keep things clean for other users on the web. I know it sucks sometimes to have to deal with spam and all, but if you learn to steer clear from it, good things will come through.

Just curious how the CAPTCHA Spam Protection feature works in your opinion?

I know that there are those who will just hammering at it cause they have nothing better else to do, I can expect that, but they will eventually give up.

Also, if this site does do well, I will run it off my linux box, and believe me, I will ban ip addresses up a storm. Even if they post one site and don't pay. I will do it.

Like I said earlier, I am not in it (this site, on a free domain) for the money as I am happy I have a site online using a database structure, and it's working.

If it makes the money, great! But I am not counting on it, but every penny goes a long way in my house.

That is a good thought, but it doesn't always work out that way.

Anyway, on to the review.

First, the design.

Pros:
-Quick loading

Cons:
-No real structure
-Old fashioned.

Conclusion:
Your website doesn't seem professional by any means of the imagination. The title is in a very kiddish font (never a good choice for a business). There is no real backbone to the site, it is just a big blog, with no defined shape. The navigation is very old school and looks as though you don't have more than basic html and css skills.
The form looks nice, but at the bottom it says, created by MachForm, and that doesn't look too professional, but most people won't notice it anyway.

Now, for the second part. The logic behind it.

Pros:
-Could be useful for somebody

Cons:
-Easily abused.

Conclusion/Statements:
First things first, it just seems like such a hassle on you having to close it if they don't pay. It could easily be spammed as many others have mentioned, and there will be many sites that you likely won't want links from posted on your site such as the ones chrishirst mentions above with

In my opinion it just needs to be rethought out.

Suggestions:
Learn a little more about PHP and MySQL, and then once you are more advanced, make it so that when they add a site they have to pay at the same time, and it won't add the link until they have paid for it. It isn't very hard, and you can easily find tutorials online I am sure.

The reason that i think it will generate a lot of spam and bad traffic is because you let anyone ad anything they want into it, as soon as spammers find it they will go crazy adding spam ads to it.

Why don't you make it where they have to pay you before their link is shown at least that way you will not have to clean spam out of it everyday.

And another bad thing is that it is on a free web host a lot of people will not pay for something that is on a free web host because they will think that it is a scam for money.

I am not saying any of this to make you angry i am just telling you this because these are things you have to think about before you go any further with promoting your website.

Doesn't even slow them down Brian.

It might block the bots (temporarily), but it doesn't prevent the "outsourcing" of "submissions" to the "dime a dozen" "work at home" army.
