Website Review and Suggestions

Ok, i was trying to take the design and change it to go in a new and more ergonomic direction, but i feel that i have failed. I love the menu, but the rest of the page doesn’t really seem to flow with it, and so i just wanted to know what others think. The design is based off of the main website’s design direction:

I think it looks good, i like how the background image is barely visible. nice job.

Ehhh...
I'm not in love with it. My eye is immediately drawn away from the top bar of your site. It blends in with my browser's navigation bar and menu. The logo doesn't look too professional in my opinion. It's okay, I suppose. Also, I don't see much purpose in the bottom bar, although it's not exactly hurting your design too much.
As for the main content of the site, it's not exactly beautiful.
Also, your flash video overlaps your main bar at the top. Although this is a general problem with flash videos, they tend to want to be on top of everything else.
In closing I'd like to say that I feel a bit crowded by your site. I'd reccomend you give some more witespace, most notably on the main bar on top, and on the left and right sides of the main content.

Sorry. I'm really not liking this site so much.

- Problem with text. Unless of course your readers has set a low resolution... The width of the text frame is too wide. I have to minimize my browser to width ca 800, so it doesnt feel like playing tennis.
- Think the background is annoying and so very grey, dark and... Zzzz
- The design on the contact form looks like something made for a boys private homepage age 12 (old design?).
- What is devopment? - found in the menu

All together... zzzz

Its a little dark for my taste, not so much colorwise but dark as in what is with the picture of the old black and white buildings for the background, really gives the site a depressing feeling.

Hmmm, you should not have seen that? I just changed it an hour ago??? Are you sure that you're not talking about the main site? In this thread, i'm actually asking about the design for all of my new subdomains, like http://search.ionisis.com

I would just suggest changing the font in your header. It's unique but the N doesn't look like an N. I had to look at the URL to see what it was suppose to be. Other than that it's neat, easy to navigate, and not overpowering.

Oh, you mean my font, i think. You know, that is the first (and so far, the only) font that i ever figured out how to make

. I'm actually quite proud of it, but i can see what you mean about some letters not being very clear.

I think there are more spaces left above the top panel. If it is reduced, it will looks good for me.

It's an interesting design. Though the background is dark, which i generally do not prefer, the text is still easy to read. One thing that bugs me a lot is extra space on the top of the page (under the search textbox).

As far as the fonts, i actually though of using the Ionisis font (that's the actual name of the font that i created for the word "ionisis") for the headings in the menus, and saving them as images (obviously). Normally, i would NOT do this, for many reasons; but i'm thinking about it, because i'm sure that it would look better.

Site is good. But has any one experienced about the slowness or its due only at my side..?
Anyways the site is good untill and unless we get useful content.

Yeah, if you're using firefox you'll notice a nice drop shadow; if you're using IE, you will not. This is because i use the -moz-box-shadow directive. The problem is that i use it against a fixed background. Were the background set to 'scroll', like normal, it would be fine; but i have to use 'fixed' because of the gradient, so the drop shadow has to rerender on each scroll.
