GoobieSquad PC Service
A buddy and I are kinda starting a side PC project so I put this lil page together.
Im kinda iffing on it because I think the design is OK but no WOW factor. I know your own page should be your homerun hitting site esp if youre advertising your designs but really the Web side was an afterthought. Im the only web person and just figured last minute I might as well get it on the page.

Everyone I showed it to thinks its great......
but still would like to submit here for honest opinions by people that actually put pages together.

FYI- I do need to get working samples of old work online. Many were redos or are currently not valid.

Thanks for your feedback.

your site looks good. The slogan "IT care that's good for your hair" seems a bit unprofessional, though.

delvec, the header looks unprofessional and look unfinished in contrast to your portfolio. As for the colors, green and purple are not complementary colors, purple and yellow/orange would probably give more of a 'wow' factor.

Past that some more content and navigation would be nice, too. Good luck!

edit-remove the slogan

oh yeah- forgot to mention the slogan was definately going. It was just a placeholder for a real slogan but I couldnt think of one. Its actually a shout out to anyone whos checked out Professor Messer's Network+ videos. He usually intros with some quirky tagline. Since I sent the sample to another IT guy, he got it. But again shouldve noted- it wasnt staying.

As for the logo-
yeah I know its missing something. I just really didnt wanna go over the top since the original idea was the PC end and not the web end. But the colors are kinda it. I would definately disagree with the purple/orange looking better.

But thanks for the feedback.- it helps.

The header/banner looks to generic or automatically generated. A picture paints 1000 words, so make sure that one is good as it's the first thing anyone looks at.

Consider expanding your service list text. Write a bit about each thing.

There is also no call to action. They are no questions to the User. If you ask a question to the User you kick their brain into gear, you want to immediately give them the solution to that question, IE click here, etc

I really think using black as a background for "professional" websites is a bad idea.

Id change the whole site imo, Make it lighter.

OK- I really don't follow what youre saying here-
Why would I need to explain the services? If someone needs their PC looked at, these are the things we do. If you need a wireless network setup, we can do it. If you need a website created, we can do it etc etc

Why would I need a call to action- whatever the hell that is? Please enlighten me.

What if someone needs their PC looked at, but don't know why?

Maybe it's running slow, but they don't know that could be caused by a virus...an explanation of what each service entails and potential benefits could generate more sales for you (and the added content will probably help with your seo).

you should have mentioned your location along with your phone number. The logo which is Microsoft certified should be of the same size as the cisco certified or both should match the same size

Isnt that what CALL NOW means?

Well, technically, I don't think youre supposed to manipulate the Cert badges. I have to check on it. Waiting for my partner's cert to go through. (or might as well finally take mine) I know alot of companies are anal about this- even for the Cert badge. Not even sure if the border is OK. BTW- its not Cisco.

As for the location, its not like we have a central location. The service area is right on the site. We're not really depending on the web for the business- more word of mouth. Just wanted a web presence.

Im not married to the actually services, so I do plan on rewording everything. But not sure if they need to know the actual cause even though I would think if someone sees COMPUTER REPAIR they will assume its broke, we can probably fix it.

Im just following the KISS rule.

It does. But yours is sat at the bottom of the page apologising for taking up space.

Your "home page" is not a "puppy dog" or "soft sell" page to draw people in to reading more, Nor is it a "hard sell" page demanding some action.

It's a sort of "inbetweeny" hybrid which doesn't work very well as either.
