Initially a decided to go with a web forum until i had at least built up the content enough to make a full site.

What im trying to deliver are clear answers to questions about getting started on the web for beginners.

The site is: www.zamhowto.com

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Since it is a forum their is not to much to say, but that start page is going to irritate a lot of people and the banner you have on the forum does not look good on a blue background change it to white.

I`m not sure why you have a `Start Page`? To me it`s just a barrier for any visitors to get over.

Obviously being a new forum there isn`t a great deal of activity right now, you`ll need to think of ways to attract visitors. And you`ll need to add more folders to widen the forum`s appeal.

Okay so I'm reviewing a start page that consists of two images?

I'd recommend a page that describes who you are, what your doing. What the forum is for. Recent updates. Contact info. ect....

Then link through to your web-forum.

Create some mouse-over events. Make it look snazzy.

I'm not sure what else anyone can say about two images on a web page..........

ALSO make it so both images link though to the forum. it's intuitive to think they're both one and you can't click through on the first one.

It looks like just any other forum, so i recommend having very, very good content. In the end people won't be coming to your site because of the looks or for pictures or anything but for a conversation so make sure you remember that.

OK thanks for the feedback about the splash page. But i dont think i was clear enough, I know it is just a forum, and its only there until i have built enough pages.

What i really wanted to know was, does the information itself, answer questions in a simple clear mannor (for someone who has never really gotten started on the web).

Thanks again. Really appreciate the help.

OK i've done away with the forum now. The site is live.

How about round 2 for review?

I've done away with the splash, and most of the other comments were related to the forum, which is now no longer an issue.

Thanks in advance guys

If you are going to frame it- I would consider maybe a color other than white for the background. Just too much white.

Another run proofreading it. A comma here and there plus a I know there's a "to" in there that should be "too".

Also, if its simple you are shooting for, you can not get any more simpler than "what is a website?", "What are the benefits of having a website?", "choosing an effective domain name" and more information on the TLDs and what they actually mean (or are supposed to mean).

Much better than the splash and forum.

The mirroring effect is different than most sites, but other than that, the page is a bit plain. The colors of the site do not flow well.
