Hiya people.
This is a silly thing as I have had hundreds of customers but it is hard to get an opinion of what people think of the website design.
Would love to know what you think. And please... be honest

Thx,
Ian

Ok, Blunt but you need it.
While your design skills and html seem perfectly fine. Your GFX suck.
You really need to think of a colour theme and stick to it.
You need to make your GFX much clearer and more polished.
if you look at pretty much any site on here, you will see what i mean.
Look at some wordpress templates and see how they have designed with their images.
Your site is good, but it reallly needs to be made to look a little more professional.
Ive attached a quick mockup of something that may look better already.

The webdesign is fine.
Just one issue for me wanting web hosting. I am skilled in PHP4, and so is most of my website files I have already created.
PHP5 does not support all features of PHP4, so I would need to re-learn a whole new language, AND would need to re-write the whole lot of many different websites.

It doesn't look very professional. Like said above your html skills are fine you just need to add some more css and some more professional looking graphics.

I think you need to learn PHP5, it's like those people who stick with IE6 and expect the web desiners to make websites that work for their outdated browser.

The best thing to do is to go and look at some websites that are similar to what you are selling and see what they are doing, that way you will get some ideas of what to do and what will look good.

Thanks for all comments,
I like the mock up that you have done and I completely understand the feedback people have given me.
The GFX need improving and I can see how. I disagree about the colours though as I feel I don't have too many colours mixing.
The mock up colours are very dark and in my experience dark means gloomy which is a bad feeling for the customer. A nice light colour like blue is a happy colour which leaves the customer feeling happy which is good.
Hmm... thanks for all comment and I shall use these to good effect to make an IRC Direct 2.0.
See you when 2.0 is up
Ian
PS: Thx Again

Blue is certainly a good color, but your current graphics need to go. Looks very 1999.
Take a look at IPOWER's website and keep that in mind when designing. If you use them for inspiration you should be good to go.
On a side note, looking at those fries made me very hungry. Time to go eat

If you focus on the color blue theme for your website, try to make it more trendy and those images as I have seen, there's a choppy edges on it, better to improve that. You must have a logo for your site too to make it more elegant. I'll wait for the version 2.0 of your site .

When I checked your site, I thought "What does that fries represent in a web hosting site?" Then, I scrolled a little bit down and it was referring to the price of the service. Honestly, the content and the image are better for advertising the website. Maybe you can make a content that would make your reader or potential client be more interested at your company and the service. And please change the logo and design, it's bland and uninviting.

Hiya people,
Thanks for reviewing the old irc website.
http://www.IRCDirect.co.uk/oldsite/
For the last week I have been hard at work re-designing it whilst keeping in mind all the comments you lovely webmasters told me about.
The new site is finally finished and up and running. Please let me know what you think (honestly).

I'm really not sure how you can substantiate this claim
"We are one of the leading website design companies in the United Kingdom."
top image should be a gif
your button text does not look professional
the grey in the middle is, well, it's too grey - make it silver or graphite
some white space wouldn't go amiss too!
no real headings
font tags! tables for layout, no dtd!!!
no favicon
centred text for main copy -(use left aligned)
next to no alt text
what's this image here? http://www.ircdirect.co.uk/lifetime.png what is that? a broken server?? the only thing i'm interested in as a customer is either a cool looking server (that i don't understand) or some cool, looking hardware that it also cool to techies
the purple and the red could work but i see nothing that suggests a company that offers web design, or professional hosting
back to the drawing board or hire someone.
p.s. your clipart is tired too.

Ou yea, add some big *** button that says like "Buy now", "Register now", "One 128Bit server for me please"

Yea gotta agree with every one else that the graphics are very plain looking and your images look very grainy.I would say you should at least add some gradients in your color scheme and add a nice icon for each of the 4 categories you have (hosting, pc backup, etc....) there are plenty of free resources out there for icons.Just look at some of the top hosting sites and take notes of what they do and your golden man. you can even use some of the templates at my site if you really need somthing to work from.
hope that helps

Looks like you have a good layout & format, but yes the theme & graphics do need to be upgraded to fit your brand.

Looks like you have changed a lot since the last time.
Its looking better, but your header isnt very professional and looks grainy.
also,
I don't think offering "lifetime" hosting for a few buck is really a wise idea.
What is soneone buys it?
Then just for ****s and giggles 30 years from now decides to try and use user service and its no longer there?
Maybe they could sue you?
Also not sure how you can justify a " 400 Gigabits Per Second
"
connection...
Most ISP's dont even have that kind of dedicated bandwidth to one end point.
Infact ( i work for an ISP ) The fastest we have is 100Gbit on a metro core..
Soooooo.....
I feel you may need to either elaborate on this or just change it to something more reasonable.
