Website Review and Suggestions

This is a custom baby gift site we just launched. We did a lot of customization of Magento for this - installed a gift registry plugin, eCC Quickbooks connect to synch with their Quickbooks POS at the brick and mortar store, and a custom theme that we designed.

I really love how it came out... Feedback appreciated!

Beautifully laid out web site you have there. I do have one suggestion though. In your shopping cart the small content boxes for Manufacturer, My Cart and Popular tags should not have a static height. In particular the Manufacturer box looks really odd when there is only one manufacturer listed. Makes it look like you are lacking content or the site is still under construction. Simply making the boxes to where they resize in accordance with the length of the content they contain would keep them from looking so out of place. Other than that I really do think it looks great. Congrats on a job well done.

I tried to use 5 second rule and it failed. Within 5 seconds i couldn't tell:
what is this website?
what can i do here?
what can this website do for me?

But the layout/design is perfect, love it

zkiller, I know what you mean, but we had to do a min-height on those boxes due to the gradients. otherwise, you would get a sharp change in color.

R1im, definitely agree with you. The client has a bit of intro text that'll cover that, but they're not willing to lose the train to replace with it.

Any suggestions how we can make a large page title fit in with the train?

Well it looks decent, the banner could be more kiddish like the toysrus banner is, the colors are alright. The only problem i see is that the page does not go all the way to the right side when viewed with a 800 x 600 screen resolution.

Have just checked it out, well, I really enjoyed the pictures of children, but I can't say the site is user-friendly after all

Seriously? You use 800 x 600 in the year 2010?

So are you using that smiley because i am using a small screen resolution, or are you using it because you do not know how to design a website right?

Because all the sites i go to looks good in all screen resolutions, not just the screen resolution that the designer built their website on.

Actually, I wrote that because I misunderstood your post, and thought you were complaining that the site was more than 800px wide.

I then looked at the site and saw what you meant about the background not scaling properly. I've since fixed it. Thanks for the tip.
