Hey guys, i just had this insurance client for SEO who wanted to keep the same design, so i pretty much upgraded the design to clean it up, and its markup (xhtml/css), and did the SEO. What do you guys think of it, content-wise? Does it feel informative, if you were looking for insurance?

Unfortunately i don't have a lot of room to play here, because he wanted most of it unchanged, but i'm still interested in hearing opinions.

Chicago Insurance Company

Thanks!

Looks good.
The markup also seems quite clean ( not like a robot actually cares if you indent code etc )

Ha, i know. I need to try to make some subtle style changes to dress it up a bit. I think i'll give that a try next week.

I think the address and phone, fax can be made more prominent, the italics dull that part down a bit in my opinion. Moving the menu on the left with get a quote up on the right, just below the address would put all 'call to actions' together, just a suggestion. The content is bland, breaking it with subtitles would help.

Looks decent, i do not like how the images look, they should take the fade off of the edges.

You're the second one to mention that, and i'm gonna have to agree.

It looks OK, but it isn't terribly interesting. How interesting can insurance be, though? Seriously, it looks good, but there is really nothing there to draw me in and to get me to read more. The navbar on the right is not the first place I'd look to nav the site. I thought that was weird placement.

Ha, i got that a lot about the nav bar. I'm going to mention to the client that people don't like it, and see if he'd be open to changing it.

I'm going to support everything that's already been said:

- not a fan of beige
- on the front page there's too much text (or at least it's poorly presented)
- the images on the front page are too small and the fade effect looks wrong, I wouldn't use those stock photos (the boat / car / house don't feel part of a linked set), maybe icons/graphics would represent the different insurance options better
- unless there's a really good reason to have it on the right, I'd move the sidebox to the left
- the address top right shouldn't be italic, and I hate the mixture of semicolons and commas

I'd clean up the front page, reduce the clutter / text by focussing on a couple of key statements and being a bit more creative with the images, and be more consistent with the text style/format.

The site IS ok. But it's exactly what I'd expect from an insurance firm. It's just a bit boring.

I think that's well put. When i go to do the review on this client's site, i will be mentioning all of this to him, as "the public's general consensus".

Thanks!
