Website Review and Suggestions

My top landing page (index) and the rest of my top landing pages have higher bouncerates than i'd like http://myideason.com. Tell me as a user your immediate reaction. be as harsh as possible..but please dont be vague."site sucks" , "i hate these type of sites"...look i've seen worst sites with worst niches and mines isnt going no where so please avoid these..When you look at it how does the colors make you feel? Is it interesting?should I add some toolbars?What if anything would make you want to navigate a bit further through the site?Do you think I should personally spruce it up with a little more controversial content?

Tom, your site sucks

ok first it is hard to read, I mean really hard, colors need changing to make it easy to read, also include some of the article in the section, not just the link and title.

yea i got that before...thats why im glad i decided to revamp my layout

1 in 25 men are color blind and I think 1 in 50 women are, so they are going to have real difficulty in reading your site regardless, probably 50 percent of the world doesn't have 20 20 vision, so why make it so difficult for them, as for adding a bit of the content to the title links it may tempt people to click the links, pretty hard to do that with just half a dozen words.

is it possible to claim for hurting my eyes when looking at someones site ?

colors are bad and way to bright, layout/placement is all over the place im not surprised the high bounce rate.

scrap and start again.

Yeah, it's definitely not necessary to "scrap this and start over". Well, everyone's already mentioned the color scheme - keep playing with it!

Yes, but it took me a second. I had to read a couple of them first. Maybe add a bit more of an explanation at the top? I also think there should be a way to enter the different categories from somewhere besides the very bottom of the page, as well. Am I to assume that's related to whatever shift happened when you tried to altar something the other night?

And also, what's going on with that clock widget at the top of the page? Seems pretty unnecessary to me. Just because you can stick something like that on your page doesn't mean you gotta.

Is there a reason the content isn't quite centered on the page? Everything is shifted a bit left of center.

Overall, I can see what you're going for, and I don't think there's that much work still ahead of you! Just mess with the color scheme, simplify the layout a bit, get the categories and log-in field back at the top, and you'll be on to something.

o and for anyone else who'll review the site..the content being shifted to displayed at the bottom is relatively new...it re-shifted while i was messing around with some widgets i tried to add....So that isn't apart of the layout ...that will definitely be fix as soon as i get home to my laptop :-)..So any more comments on the niche in specific???

First of all,it loads really slow
secondly,when it finished loading,it looks like it is still loading
thirdly,the top of the site is too empty
finally,the site seems to need more content

What am I even looking at here? At first glance it is a bunch of sophomoric facebook posts. If I could give it three thumbs down, I would. Sorry ... I know you want reviews and get easily offended, but I just don't get this site's reason for being. It's a page with a facebook feed widget. Why would people go here instead of your facebook page directly?

I do not like the fact that your background is white at the top, and then suddenly it turns light green and stays like this. Why not have all the site green? Or, even better, white?
I'm sorry, but this white-green thing really annoyed me, and I would have probably bounce too if I was not reviewing.

Next. There are those numbers at the bottom of the page, a 'next page' link, and the terms of use, privacy policy, etc. Their colors do not fit well with the light green at all.

There is a lot of empty space at the top of your site.

As a plus, the ads have the same color of that green, and look very well. Do you get a good clickthrough rate?

Hi Rockleeman,

Points above are correct and indicates to the visibility factor more. where as ther could be many other factors for high bounce rate on our website.
1. What if your website is being promoted at wrong target market? Then the people coming from their are sure to take off after few seconds the land on your page.
2. Even if there is large percentage of classified visiotrs on your site , buut they are not clear about the objective of the site and other general informations, which you should have put on the website. Information such as what is this site about(this type of information is generally on home page ), a short description about your self on 'about us' page, this would interest the visitors to know about you and site as well.
3. what the visitor is supposed to do? The line which describes the action 'have an idea? voice your opinion!" is in very small font size. Dude this is line will clear the objective of a visitor on your site, make it big an dlet it sound loud so that visitors can understand and participate.
4.Navigation links like Home-most agreed-least agreed and others are are cribbing for recognition. Same problem with them is they are too small to find and recognize.
5.Loading time is another issue. You get just 3 seconds to hinge a visitor, so make your site that effective.
6.Are you still working on color patterns? Don't tell me it is complete. It looks like the white background will take on green color and whole site will get a wite background. You really need to look at this issue, because this is something which will affect the visitor at first place.
7.Enabing visitors from diff region to read and participate is a good thing and for that purpose I guess you have put those translation buttons on the upper right corner of your website. If so then you hide them , let them come out on the website and let the visitor try out the facility provided.

In very simple words. Get it redesigned. Create some architecture first. plan your things, arrange the resources and then execute.
