It looks good, but I have a few suggestions:
1) Join the top nav to the rest of the content.
2) Stronger branding - The header needs a logo or logotype, something stronger to indicate authority and to catch the eye. Right now there is nothing to anchor it visually.
3) More visuals. I agree with the comments about it being text heavy. Periodic (but contextual) photos or illustrations would go a long way.
4) Increase the amount of space between the article title and the bar below it and the beginning of the article. You don't need much here, but definitely at least another 10px on either side of the date/author/comment bar.
5) Get rid of the left column. You could easily combine the two columns and the effect would be that your page would be easier to read. As it stands, it's too cluttered. At the very least, move the main column to the left.
6) Your column headers shouldn't have the reflection. It doesn't make sense conceptually or within the rest of the theme. Plus, it's so light that it might as well not be there.
7) None of the advertising really fits in with the rest of the site. Once you start generating more traffic, you might want to look at BuySellAds.com as an ad provider. See sites like smashingmagazine.com or net.tutsplus.com as examples.
8) If you're using this site to get business, you need to emphasize that more. Nowhere do you have a list of available services. (And I know this will come, but you won't get much business until you get at least a few sites in your portfolio). Think of a potential, non-tech savvy client landing on your home page. Will they they find what they're looking for easily?
