Website Review and Suggestions

This is my first post here!
I would really like some honest feedback on this website.

What is your opinion on the lay out not so much the functionality...?
There are a lot of websites out there that have the same look and feel...
I don't know if I went a little overboard or not...

My client is 72 years young, lol, and did not like the way I have it laid out!
This was more or less pro bono work for as little as the low hundreds...
It is not finished but just want your opinion if it reeks of nice design or
totally stinks, LOL!!

Looks nice to me, background is set to about 2,000 odd pixels wide though for firefox browser, ie have to scroll across to center the page.

Like thai said, the width and background issues standout as big problems easily fixed. The style of the site is interesting although it's hard to judge how it would work with more content like your store and gallery. A site like this should have some visual action for mouse hover and click.

Another little bug concerns your about and contact pages. When hovering over the store and gallery links while on these pages, the little page that pops up to describe them is under the current page content.

"Sams" should probably have an apostrophe.

The website looks great, visually appealing. I would also agree though, that the length is a slight issue, if you could narrow down the page slightly that would be preferred. Also, you may want to put a little more info on the homepage (contact, etc...)

I agree with Hagan, there should be more info on the homepage.

The main issue I have is that the navigation items are off screen at the bottom (using Firefox on a normal 1440 x 900 resoltion). Maybe put them at the side on shelves with the bric-a-brac?

I also find the text that pops up when you hover over gallery quite difficult to read - I'd make it a tiny bit bigger and use a different handwriting-style font.

But overall it's a good, attention-grabbing idea which looks good and is original.

Site look is very nice.. but site is not SEO friendly.

1. Add metatag for your site,
2. Content is very less so add some quality content..
3. put to all images alt tag.

I really appreciate everyone's feed back!!
I'm not done with it yet. I know it needs seo and tags etc.
It's really a front, landing page with visual appeal that will be
attached to a store with a shopping cart.
I do agree with the navigation menu needing to be above the
fold. I will finish tweaking and maybe sell it with all the code
and psd files, hehe! Back to the drawing board!!
