Backlink Checker

It's alright, it works ok, you need some way of showing people that it is still checking, ie I tried and it looked like it didn't find any, then a few seconds later it started listing them, if I had used it to check a new site I would have clicked out before it started as i would have assumed there were no inlinks, also you need to differentiate between http://www. and http://

And has your system indexed every single page on the Internet and catalogued every single link found?

Or are just scraping results from the other useless "backlink tools" there are around?

Chris is right. There are better backlink checking toys of the Internet which finds more results,

But, none of them are really accurate, but the best gives the most results in the ending.

Good start but it needs a little work.

When the checker is running you should have some sort of message that says "Processing" or something like that so the user knows when it is done.

The outbound link checker doesn't seem to be accurate, at least all the time. I noticed this when one of my own sites showed up when I tested another one of my sites.

Add some tutorials/blog articles related to backlinking to bring in search traffic and keep visitors on the site longer.

PR never shows up for any of the results.

It's a good start though. Post again when you've done some work on it.

I agree with all the comments above.

I like the overall simplicity of the landing page design.
Brilliant job there.

Some kind of "Check another URL?" button would be good on the results
page too.

And DEFINITELY needs an "In Progress" swirling GIF or similar.

And when you get everything working, if there were some way or sorting or filtering
by PR, anchor text or follow/nofollow that would be really useful.

First thing you should do is set up a newsletter sign-in or RSS feed so people can track the
progress of this project. Looks pretty interesting.

Loads around and all bring back very different results but i agree with it needing something to tell you its still checking as i was about to leave .

Google Page Speed Score: 76

It seems you do not have gzip compression enabled on your webserver.
Here is what Google Page Speed suggests:

Code:

Enable compression
Leverage browser caching
Minify CSS
Serve static content from a cookieless domain
Optimize images
Specify image dimensions

At least these points should be done.

I checked it. But it has missed several backlinks and it is repeating the same for the long time.

Thanks for the great response, I really like the comments with suggestions and ideas (thanks 4layouts, TWD, CSM)

Just added Alexa rank & DMOZ listing to the results. It is also giving you an estimate of the total number of backlinks while its loading. Also added a globe while loading.

Gave color to follow and nofollow links and speed is improved!

I've bookmarked your site.

I still think you should have an input box
at the top of the results page so that users
can type in their next query without the redundant step
of going back to the home page.

Styling suggestions:
1. Change the Please Do Not Refresh This Page! Results are loaded dynamically below this line!
from red to green (red is too harsh), center it, and don't capitalize every word. It looks unprofessional.
2. Use a favicon.
3. Logo should be bigger and more unique. There is really nothing memorable about it.

It would be useful if/when you get PR working.

Also, it really needs some way of filtering/sorting the columns.
I think you can easily do that with javascript. JQuery has a Tables plugin.
