Website Review and Suggestions

Hi there,

I'm helping a friend redesign an existing site here: http://robertpgiaimofund.com/Robert_...Fund/Home.html

To a wordpress driven new design here:

I am having a hard time trying to come up with an interesting design for it though.

The existing theme that my friend chose for wordpress doesn't seem to convey the right context for a fund raising site to me. Does anyone here have any general suggestions? I like how clean the theme looks, but I'm not sure if there is something that can be done to improve it.

Any guidance would be very much appreciated.

I think what you're running into here is lack of images and lack of a killer color scheme / graphical scheme. My birth month is in October so I feel connected with this month (sounds pretty lame but whatever)

Here is my suggestion, go with an orange / yellow / brown color scheme or maybe even a halloween based one.

Also, remember this is a local event. Add some local elements in there! Show me a picture of this dude as well and give me the option to read more about him.

Who was Robert P Giaimo? Why is there a memorial fund? There's a run and Halloween mentioned but nothing about what Halloween has to do with Robert P Giaimo?

The answers will most likely reveal a few ideas for a theme/imagery to use.

Just use a plain white template it is a fund raising site not a Halloween site, also that logo at the top is weird why is it a bolt with a vampire costume on?

If the Foundation has run many years. There is no problem with it...start with the image posting and making description.... In that way you can visualize what your design fits for your foundation. There are many interesting site but most of them are bogus.

Yes I agree that the logo is very weird. To be perfectly honest, I find the entire project to be a little weird as I've asked those same questions you've all stated to the people organizing it and not really gotten any clarity...

It needs to clearly state just what the point of the foundation is and who it interests, how to get involved, etc. I don't really like the red / black color scheme but that's what they want.

I think I can't really go anywhere until they've actually placed the contents on the pages so I can see what kind of images or anything they might have.

I want to help, but it's challenging without any context right now, and the stuff they have doesn't really make sense to me. I dunno.
