I designed two top navigation bars on my site and can't choose which one to go with.

Original nav is here...

http://mangastop.hostoi.com/Index.php

And my second design here.

http://mangastop.hostoi.com/testfile.php

I haven't finished the second one but if you want an idea of how it'll look finished, it'll be quite similar to this site. sankakucomplex.com (NSFW).

The purpose of the second one is to follow the user as they scroll down the page as my site is going to be an anime and manga news site.

But in terms of design what do you think looks better?

In your second design, the top bar was removed (which had contacs us, RSS feed etc. in it). I would keep that bar, as it gives a final touch to the header.

Now the idea of the following bar is good. But I think it is kind of 50/50. Some people would really like it and find it easy, whilst others may only find it annoying that the bar is that constantly.

I personally would find it annoying also.

Fixed nav is annoying (your #2).

Why not doin something like this:

Watch in the middle of the right side (hover over it).

Ok...I was thinking that myself but it was like 51% - 49%.

So...what do you think of my non-fixed navigation then? Decent, good, excellent? Anything I could change?

If you leave the navigation as a fixed div, you may find you have problems in certain browsers such as IE6. I'm not sure how you fix it, but it might be something to look into if you are going to use fixed positioning. You could try some Javascript to figure spot the IE6 browser and then substitute the css file with one that uses absolute positioning.

Well I don't think I'm going with fixed navigation now so can anyone give me more opinions on my top navigation?
That one guy's suggestion for navigation (http://addyosmani.com/blog/rocketbar/) was nice but I can't really make a nav like on that site since it's the top navigation I want to change, not the main nav. That kind of nav wouldn't fit as top nav.

Any more opinions?
