Hopefully the design, I wanted something simple that focused on the stories, speed, and behind the scenes I wanted a service that was ran by users. Unlike the two giants in the market Digg and Reddit which are for users but really ran by corporations.
Also any suggestions for making it unique and better are more then welcome.

A huge difference, and now that people realize this these huge sites are fake. they have almost had their traffic cut in half.
But they don't car because they don't make money otherwise anyways.
Catch 22
In our case we have plenty of extra space (being a data center owner) we can handle this with little advertising for the sake of a better service. We like to read quality news in the morning like most others.
